We are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a degree awarding Institute, under section 25A of the Universities Act No.16 of 1978. NISD is a statutory body functioning under the purview of the Minister of Social Services, Welfare & Livestock Development.

Annual Convocation & Diploma Award Ceremony - 2022

The Annual Convocation & Diploma Award Ceremony of 2022 will be held on 26th July 2022 at BMICH Committee Room B at 9.30 a.m. with the participation of Mr. Neel Bandara Hapuhinne - Secretary, Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment and Chairman, Governing Council NISD, M.T.R. Shamini Attanayake, Director General (Acting) & Additional Director General (Academic) NISD and with other invitees.

30 Master of Social Work graduands & 43 Bachelor of Social Work graduands will be conferred their degrees at the Convocation Ceremony. The Diploma Award Ceremony will be followed by the convocation and 520 students who have successfully completed the Higher Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Gerontology & Eldercare, Diploma in Social Work and Diploma in Counseling will be awarded the Diplomas at this ceremony.

The Convocation address will be delivered by Professor Emeritus, Lakshman Dissanayake, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo.
