IHRC AND SHRI HELA CULTURAL COLLABORATION FOUNDATION DELIVER VITAL DISASTER RELIEF IN UVA PROVINCE, SRI LANKA 🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
BADDULLA, SRI LANKA — In response to severe flooding and landslides that recently affected communities across Sri Lanka, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Corporation, in collaboration with the Shri Hela Cultural Collaboration Foundation (SHCCF), successfully carried out a comprehensive humanitarian disaster-relief mission in Uva Province.
The humanitarian operation was conducted under the direct leadership and monitoring of Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake, IHRC Commissioner for Sri Lanka and Founder and Chairman of the Shri Hela Cultural Collaboration Foundation, demonstrating IHRC’s continued commitment to protecting human dignity and providing assistance to vulnerable communities affected by humanitarian emergencies.
ON-THE-GROUND OPERATIONS
The relief mission was carried out under the on-site leadership of Mr. S. Prabhakaran, IHRC Regional Coordinator, with essential organizational and logistical support provided by Mrs. S. Harshananthi, IHRC Zonal Coordinator and Project Coordination Secretary.
The operation was further supported by dedicated IHRC members, including Mr. Basnayake, together with active IHRC volunteers:
Mrs. Rajeswari, Mr. Hasitha, Mr. Keethiswaran, Mr. Nalin Dammika, Mrs. Roshani, and Mr. Ajith.
A committed team of community volunteers also contributed to the successful implementation of the humanitarian mission, including:
Ms. Esther Benika, Ms. Subaletchumi, Ms. Amsiya Deen, Ms. Sandamali, Mr. Himath, and Ms. Rakshani.
TARGETED ASSISTANCE TO AFFECTED FAMILIES
In accordance with humanitarian principles, IHRC conducted preliminary ground assessments to identify communities and families that had been most severely affected by the flooding and landslides.
Following these assessments, essential relief packages were distributed to affected families in Kanawaralla, Hali-Ela, and Badulla.
Special appreciation is extended to Mr. Naveen, Teacher at Gonagala School, for his valuable assistance in identifying affected families and facilitating coordination of the relief operation at the community level.

The humanitarian mission was conducted under the guidance and directives of Prof. Rafal Marcin Wasik, Secretary-General of the International Human Rights Commission.
