IHRC Nigeria's Dr. Duru Hezekiah Hails Ronaldinho's Global Peace Honor by IHRC

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the International Human Rights Commission - IHRC Corporation in Nigeria, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, has heartily congratulated Brazilian football icon and global humanitarian, Ronaldinho Gaucho, on his recent conferment of the CIVIS MUNDI SUM – Citizen of the World Order and his appointment as an IHRC Peace Ambassador.

This prestigious honor was presented by the IHRC Secretary-General, Prof. Rafał Marcin Wasik, during a high-profile ceremony ahead of the Brazil–Poland match at the renowned Stadion Śląski. It marks a significant milestone in recognizing public figures who use their global platforms to promote peace, compassion, and community upliftment beyond borders.

H.E. Dr. Duru, in his congratulatory message, described Ronaldinho as "an inspiring symbol of peace, unity, and humanitarian commitment whose legacy in football is matched by his post-career passion for serving vulnerable populations." He further noted that this global recognition reflects IHRC’s commitment to acknowledging impactful contributions beyond politics and policy.

“Ronaldinho’s joyful presence on the field brought the world together, and today, his philanthropic work continues to unite hearts across nations,” said Ambassador Duru. “His conferment with the CIVIS MUNDI SUM Order is a resounding testimony that true heroes are not only born on the pitch but rise in communities, offering hope, love, and humanitarian service.”

The Nigerian Diplomatic Office of IHRC, under the leadership of Ambassador Duru, has been at the forefront of community service, advocacy for rural security, youth engagement, and protection of human dignity amidst the country’s socio-political challenges. Through ongoing interventions such as the IHRC Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) community outreach, road safety enforcement, rural empowerment campaigns, and anti-human trafficking initiatives, IHRC Nigeria has remained a strong pillar in the global pursuit of peace and sustainable development.

Dr. Duru also used the occasion to laud Secretary-General Prof. Rafał Marcin Wasik for his visionary leadership and continuous drive to amplify humanitarian diplomacy. He praised Prof. Wasik's bold interventions in conflict zones and his strategic engagement of international figures to promote IHRC’s message of global solidarity.

“Prof. Wasik has again shown the world that leadership in humanitarian service is not about position but passion. His decision to honor Ronaldinho underscores IHRC’s global reach and commitment to uniting nations through shared values of peace and justice,” he affirmed.

The International Human Rights Commission continues to bridge the gap between grassroots realities and global diplomacy, inspiring a new era of responsible leadership and civic engagement. Ronaldinho’s appointment as IHRC Peace Ambassador is expected to further strengthen IHRC’s influence in leveraging sports and culture as tools for conflict resolution and community transformation.

As the world celebrates this monumental moment, the Nigerian IHRC community joins in reaffirming its dedication to building bridges of hope, empowering lives, and honoring those who carry the banner of peace with purpose.

Congratulations, Ronaldinho Gaucho – Citizen of the World, Champion of Peace!
