🟢 බීජ වී නිෂ්පාදන ක්ෂේත්රයන්ගේ වල් වී හදුනා ගැනීම සහ පාලනය පිළිබද පුහුණු වැඩසටහන
🟢 කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල්, ආචාර්යය තුෂාර වික්රමාරච්චි මහතාගේ අදහසකට අනුව, “Agri+ ජාතික කෘෂිකර්ම වැඩසටහනට සමගාමීව, අතිරේක කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල් වරුන්ගේ (සංවර්ධන හා පර්යේෂණ) උපදේශකත්වයෙන්, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ප්රදේශ ගණනාවක වී වගාව සදහා මහත් කරදරයක් ව පවතින වල් වී හදුනාගැනීම සහ පාලනය පිළිබද පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් සංවිධානය කරන ලද අතර, එහි හතරවැනි වැඩසටහන 2025.02.17 දින කෘෂිකර්ම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙහි සේවයේ නියුතු තාක්ෂණ නිළධාරීන් හා ක්ෂේත්ර කම්කරු සේවක මහත්ම මහත්මීන් උදෙසා හම්බන්තොට දිස්ත්රික්කයට අයත් රන්න - අමුණ ක්ෂේත්රයේදී පවත්වන ලදි.
ගුණාත්මක බීජ වී නිෂ්පාදනය, වල් වී හා වල් පැළෑටි හදුනා ගැනීම සහ පාලනය කිරීම පිළිබද විධිමත් දැනුවත් කිරීමේ මෙම පුහුණු වැඩමුලුව, බතලගොඩ වී පර්යේෂණ හා සංවර්ධන ආයතනයේ ජේෂ්ඨ ශාක අභිජනන විද්යාඥ ආචාර්ය: කේ.ජී.පී.බී.කේ. කරුණාරත්න සහ ආර්.එම්.යූ.එස්.බණ්ඩාර යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ තාක්ෂණික සම්පත් දායකත්වය ඇතිව පවත්වන ලදි.
🟢 එදින මෙම වැඩසටහන සදහා බටඅත සහ තෙලිජ්ජවිල යන නියෝජ්ය කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ (බීජ) කළාප වලට අයත් බීජ ගොවිපල වල මෙන්ම ගාල්ල, මාතර, බටඅත සහ පැල්මඩුල්ල යන බීජ සහතික කිරීමේ සේවයේ ප්රාදේශීය කාර්යයාලවල සහ බටඅත බීජ පරීක්ෂණාගාරයේ තාක්ෂණ නිළධාරීන් මෙන්ම ඉහත ගොවිපල් වල ක්ෂේත්ර කම්කරු මහත්ම මහත්මීන් ද සහභාගී වූ අතර, ඒ සදහා අතිරේක අධ්යක්ෂ ආර්.සිවනේශන් (අතිරේක ආහාර බෝග හා වී) මහතා හා ඒ.ඩබ්.ඒ.සමරසිංහ, නියෝජ්ය අධ්යක්ෂ(බීජ වී) යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ මග පෙන්වීම ද නොමදව ලැබුණි.
🟢 මෙම පුහුණු වැඩමුළුවේදී, වල් වී හදුනා ගැනීම සහ ක්ෂේත්රයේ තිබෙන වල් වී ඉවත් කිරීම හා පාලනය කිරීම සදහා අවශ්ය නව තාක්ෂණික දැනුම ලබා දුනි. ඒ සදහා බීජ වී නිෂ්පාදන වගාවක දී පැළ අතින් සිටුවීම හා පැරෂුට් ක්රමය, ජලයට වී වැපිරීම (water seedling method) වැනි නව තාක්ෂණික ක්රම පිළිබද ගැඹුරු පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් සිදු කරන ලදි.
🟢 එසේම, මෙම පුහුණු වැඩසටහන සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සදහා බතලගොඩ වී පර්යේෂණ හා සංවර්ධන ආයතනයේ අධ්යක්ෂ, ආචාර්ය එන්.ජී.ඩී.එල්. ප්රියන්තා, බීජ හා රෝපණ ද්රව්ය සංවර්ධන මධ්යස්ථානයේ අධ්යක්ෂ, එස්.සතීෂ්වරන් සහ බීජ සහතික කිරීමේ සේවයේ අතිරේක අධ්යක්ෂ, කේ.කේ.එස්.ඩී. ප්රදීපිකා යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන්ගේ සහයෝගය හා මග පෙන්වීම ද නොමදව ලැබුණි.
🟢 එමෙන්ම මෙම පුහුණු වැඩමුළුව සාර්ථකව සිදු කර ගැනීම සදහා සහාය ලබා දුන් පිරිස අතර, ඩී.පී.එම්.එන්.සී වෛද්යරත්න (බටඅත නියෝජ්ය කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ - බීජ), එච්.කේ.ප්රදීප් කුමාර (නියෝජ්ය කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ_ අඟුණකොළපැලැස්ස සේවාසංස්කරණය අභ්යාසආයතනය) , වී පර්යේෂණ ස්ථානය අම්බලන්තොට (නියෝජ්ය කෘෂිකර්ම අධ්යක්ෂ - පර්යේෂණ) සහ රන්න - අමුණ එක්සත් ගොවි සංවිධානය සිහිපත් කළ යුතුය.
🟢 Training Programme on Weedy Rice Identification and Control in Seed Paddy Production Fields.
🟢 In line with the vision of the Director General of Agriculture, Dr. Thushara Wickramarachchi, and as part of the Agri+ National Agriculture Program, a series of specialized training programs were conducted on the identification and control of weedy rice, a significant constraint affecting rice cultivation across many regions of Sri Lanka. Under the guidance of the Additional Director Generals of Agriculture (Development and Research), these workshops aim to strengthen technical capacity among agricultural officers. The fourth program in this series was successfully held on 17th February 2025 at the Ranna - Amuna Yaya in the Hambanthota District, with participation from technical officers and field workers of the Department of Agriculture.
🟢 The workshop focused on enhancing formal awareness on quality basic seed paddy production, effective identification of weedy rice and other weeds, and practical strategies for control in seed paddy fields. Dr. K. G. P. B. K. Karunarathne and Dr. R. M. U. S. Bandara, Senior Plant Breeding Scientists at the Bathalagoda Rice Research Institution, served as the key resource person, delivering expert sessions throughout the training. Their contributions provided invaluable insights into the latest research and field-tested methodologies.
🟢 Participants in the program included officers and field workers from the Seed Production Farms of Bataatha and Thelijjawilla as well as representatives from the offices of Deputy Directors (Seed), Regional Seed Certification Offices, and the Seed Testing Laboratory. The guidance and support of Additional Director R. Sivanesan (Additional Director of Seed Paddy & OFC) and A.W.A. Samarasinghe, Deputy Director (Seed Paddy), were also instrumental in organizing the event.
🟢 This training workshop delivered important technical knowledge essential for accurately distinguishing weedy rice from cultivated varieties and implementing effective control measures in production fields. Comprehensive sessions were conducted to explain new field-level techniques, including hand planting, the parachute method, and the water seedling method, which are critical for improving seed paddy quality and minimizing contamination.
🟢 The success of this program was made possible through the valued support of Dr. Ms. L. Priyantha, Director of the Bathalagoda Rice Research and Development Institute, S. Satheeswaran, Director of the Seed and Planting Material Development Center, and the encouragement of Mrs. Y.M.H Liyanage,Director Seed certification and Plant Protection and Mrs. Pradeepika, Additional Director of the Seed Certification Service, whose contributions were highly appreciated.
🟢In addition, special recognition is extended to those who provided significant assistance during the workshop’s implementation, including Mr.D.P.M.N.C.Vaidyarathna (Deputy Director of Agriculture(Seed) - Bataatha), Mr.H.K.Pradeep Kumara (Deputy Director of Agriculture, ISTI, Angunakolapalassa), all of whom played key roles in ensuring the program’s success.
