🌿 World Wetlands Day at Beddagana Wetland Park 🌿

We celebrated World Wetlands Day at Beddagana Wetland Park, together with Dilmah Conservation, through a day filled with learning, exploration, and conservation awareness.

Over 100 nature enthusiasts joined us to discover that wetlands are much more than just water—they are complex ecosystems where every species, from fungi to fireflies and even the fishing cat, plays an important role.

Participants engaged in exciting hands-on activities including water quality testing, camera trapping, and biodiversity exploration. They learned about amphibians, bats, and other small mammals, while also experiencing the unique soundscape of the wetland through the calls of frogs, birds, and insects.

Experts shared valuable insights into wildlife research and conservation techniques, highlighting why wetlands are essential and why protecting them matters now more than ever.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dilmah Conservation for their continued partnership in strengthening environmental education and conservation at Beddagana Wetland Park.

🌿 Beddagana Sobha Mithuro – Monthly Nature Club 🌿

This month’s Sobha Mithuro workshop at Beddagana Wetland focused on an important question: How do we record the environment around us?

During the Plant Identification Workshop, participants learned that understanding nature goes beyond books—it starts with careful observation and sketching.

Participants were guided by Narmada Dangampola and Thamandari Pathirana to observe details such as leaf shapes, vein patterns, and flower arrangements, and turn those observations into meaningful sketches.

By blending science and creativity, the session helped participants develop valuable skills to better understand and document the natural world.

Special thanks to Dilmah Conservation for their continuous support.
