The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a Training Programme on Disciplinary Procedure from 18th to 19th September 2025 at the Regional Training Centre, Department of Animal Production and Health, Kallady in Batticaloa. The programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and competencies of staff regarding disciplinary procedures within their respective institutions in the Batticaloa district. Mr.K.Eswarakumar, Administrative Officer at the Department of Provincial Audit, Eastern Province, served as the resource person for the training programme. The training programme was delivered in Tamil medium and 24 staff participated.

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a three-day training programme on Poster, Flyer, and Brochure Design from September 16th to 18th, 2025, at the MDTU in Trincomalee. The training programme aimed to strengthen the design skills of staff from various institutions across the Eastern Province, enabling them to create effective and visually appealing promotional materials for their respective institutions. The training programme was led by Mr.S.Prasad, ICT Assistant at the RDHS Office in Batticaloa, who served as the resource person. The training was conducted in Tamil medium, and 17 staff participated in the training programme.

Training Programme on Routine Maintenance of Electrical Installation & Plumbing

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a three-day training programme on Routine Maintenance of Electrical Installations & Plumbing from September 10 to 12, 2025, at the Good Governance Resource Centre in Batticaloa. The training programme was facilitated by Mr.A.Anopratheepan, Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna, along with Mr.B.Jesuthasan, Instructor at the same faculty. Both served as resource persons and shared their knowledge and practical insights with the participants. This hands-on training was aimed at equipping staff with the essential skills needed for routine repairs and maintenance tasks in their workplaces. It also focused on helping them develop effective strategies to troubleshoot and resolve common issues related to electrical and plumbing systems. A total of 30 staff took part in the training programme, gaining valuable experience and practical knowledge to apply in their work place.

Workshop on Event Management

As per the instructions of the Hon. Governor of the Eastern Province, the Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) organized a workshop on Event Management on 9th September 2025 at the MDTU in Trincomalee. The workshop was designed to enhance the practical skills and knowledge of staff in planning, coordinating, and executing professional events. The session was led by Ms.E.H.Nawanjalee, Lecturer in the Department of Social Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). With her extensive experience in both academic and practical aspects of event planning, Ms.Nawanjalee delivered an engaging and informative training programme, conducted in the English medium. A total of 31 staff participated in the workshop, representing various departments. Their active involvement and enthusiasm contributed to the interactive nature of the session. The event was further graced by the presence of Hon.Prof.Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Governor of the Eastern Province, along with other senior officials.

Training Programme on Database using Microsoft Access

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a four-day training programme on Database Management using Microsoft Access from 26th to 29th August 2025 at the MDTU in Trincomalee. This hands-on training was designed for government officers responsible for maintaining institutional records and generating reports. The training programme was conducted in Tamil medium, the sessions aimed to build practical skills in database handling, enabling participants to streamline and improve their record-keeping and reporting tasks. The training programme was facilitated by Mr.T.Sunthararajan an experienced resource person from MDTU, Trincomalee. Drawing from his strong technical background and field experience, he delivered insightful sessions combining both theoretical knowledge and practical application. A total of 17 participants from various institutions under the Eastern Provincial Council took part in the training programme. Through interactive lectures and real-world exercises, the training programme provided a solid foundation in using Microsoft Access for everyday administrative tasks. Training Programme on Basic Serving Techniques

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a two-day training programme on Basic Serving Techniques from 5th to 6th August 2025 at MDTU, Trincomalee. This training programme was specifically designed for Primary Grade Officers of the Eastern Provincial Council, with the aim of enhancing their skills in professional service delivery. It focused on improving their ability to serve effectively, as well as guiding them on appropriate conduct during official events and when hosting delegation visits. The training progamme was conducted in both Tamil and Sinhala to ensure better understanding and engagement from all participants. The sessions were expertly facilitated by officials from the Trincomalee Naval Base, who brought practical insights and disciplined approaches to the training. A total of 26 officers took part in this interactive and impactful training programme, gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience to apply in their day-to-day duties.

Training Programme on Geographical Information System (GIS) using QGIS

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a three-day training programme on “Geographical Information System (GIS) using QGIS” from 29th to 31st July 2025 at MDTU, Trincomalee. The training programme was designed to equip officers with practical knowledge and skills in using QGIS, an open-source GIS software, for spatial data analysis and map creation. The training programme was delivered in Tamil and Sinhala medium by Mr.T.Sunthararajah, Development Officer, MDTU, Trincomalee. Based on his hands-on experience, he guided participants through key GIS concepts, data handling techniques, and real-world applications using QGIS. A total of 46 officers participated in the training programme. The training programme enhanced their capacity to apply GIS tools effectively in their institutional planning, analysis, and decision-making processes.
