Condemnation of Disruptions at the Capitol Building and Alleged Corruption involving Speaker’s Removal

Monrovia, Liberia – October 18, 2024 – The recent disruptions at the Capitol Building have cast a shadow over the democratic processes that form the bedrock of our governance. As a nation, we stand at a critical juncture where the integrity of our democratic institutions must be upheld with unwavering commitment. It is with profound concern that we address the allegations of bribery and inducements, specifically the disturbing reports of US$15,000 exchange, which have surfaced in the media to remove the Speaker, Hon. Fonati Koffa.

While it is the prerogative of the House of Representatives to elect its own leaders, this sacred exercise must be conducted with transparency, integrity, and respect for the rule of law. The very notion that such a process could be tainted by corruption is sickening to the core and speaks volumes about the challenges we face in eradicating corruption from our political landscape. We are concerned that one of our Partisans, is alleged to be a part of such fiasco and assures the public that his actions were without the approbation of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and as such, will be subjected to our internal scrutiny. We also applaud the stance of our lawmakers, along with others for resisting the temptation of bribery and withdrawing their signatures.

Corruption is a cancer that eats away at the fabric of our society, undermining trust, eroding public confidence, and stifling progress. It is a scourge that not only affects Liberia but has far-reaching implications for the global community, including the taxpayers of the United States, and other Nations of the World who support our development efforts. It is imperative that we, as a country, take a firm stand against such malfeasance.

It is important to note that public officials MUST account for funds alloted them from taxes paid by ordinary Lib

Post Election Statement by CPP Standard Bearer- Mr. Alexander B. Cummings

October 16, 2023

My Fellow Liberians:

Thanks to all of you who voted on October 10. The high turnouts from all across the country, should remind all of us that Liberians cherish their hard-won democracy and will do anything to preserve it.

On behalf of my family, Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine and her family; on behalf of our entire CPP family, all of our down-ballot candidates, and the entire campaign team; from the bottom of my heart, I thank all of our partisans, well-wishers, and supporters for their courage to boldly and proudly stand with us and support the
patriotic cause to fix our country.

As Cllr. Brumskine and I campaigned with you, and we came to renew our own faith in a better future for Liberia. That renewal of faith
has come not from any acceptance from the top of the political class, but from the hopefulness of the grassroots - market women, motorcyclists, healthcare workers, teachers, civil servants, farmers, street sellers, amongst many others.

Change will happen. Real change will prevail. The fight for real change which we have begun can not and will not be stopped! This is not because of me or Cllr. Brumskine. It is because of you, each and every one of our supporters, well-wishers, partisans, and Liberians from ALL walks of life.

This is why, despite the ridiculousness in results being announced, my faith in God and belief in our people remain strong and unwavering. Change - real change - is on Liberia’s
doorsteps. A few may succeed to conspire against it happening now, but real change will ultimately and inevitably happen because Liberians desire, will work for, and deserve it.

Like many Liberians, including our fiercest critics, we, too, are disbelieving of the results being announced. When Liberians voted, they did so in believing their votes would be reflected in the results. This is how democracy is supposed to properly function. The announced results ridicul

Today 24, marks the 176th year since we raised our flag as the symbol of a proudly independent nation. Although we may debate how collectively expressive our flag may be, it remains the flag of our Republic.

The Lone Star represents Liberia. Liberians, therefore, share in the collective duty to honor our flag lest it be dishonored by others. That duty to our Lone Star is best expressed in our pledge to remain "One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

This pledge guarantees that, despite our differences in tribes, religions, political parties, and genders, all Liberians own Liberia. All Liberians, therefore, deserve to enjoy and benefit from Liberia's natural wealth and abundant opportunities.

The inconvenient truth, though, is that this continues not to be the reality of many Liberians. Justice is mostly inaccessible, opportunities are selective, and unity eludes us. These things continue to dishonor and lower our flag.

Judging Liberians' capacity by their gender, tribe or religion dishonors the flag. Making it difficult for Liberians to succeed in their own country defaces our flag. Not running an accountable government so that corruption has consumed public service, leaving the educational system to be a mess and public hospitals to be neglected destroys our flag. Being so poor with so many without decent-paying jobs in a country blessed to be so rich, disgraces our flag.

We can not continue like this. We deserve better. Our flag deserves to fly higher. I am running for President, among other things, to fly our flag higher. We are determined to change the old mindset that continues to keep us poor and corrupt because it does not represent the nation we promised to be and hoisted our flag to represent.

The "One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" that was promised, and for which we continue to pledge our allegiance can be a reality if we are ready to work for it.

This, too, is what the October Electi

The Battle Line Is Drawn …Charlyne Takes On Nyonblee

The internal wrangling within the Liberty Party (LP) is far from being over as Charlyne Brumskine, daughter of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine-Founder of the LP is picking bones with Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence.

Charlyne Brumskine, Vice Standard-bearer of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) has sent a strong caveat to expel Liberty Party Political Leader Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence cautioning her to stop attacking CPP National Chairman, Musa Hassan Bility and come after herself instead.

“I will ask Senator Nyonblee not to accuse Bility anymore. Let her accuse me. Leave Bility. I am using the emblem. I am the Vice Standard-bearer on the Liberty Party/ANC ticket. Let them leave Musa. Let them come after me in the open. It’s been happening behind closed -doors,” Cllr. Brumskine said when she appeared on the Tuesday, July 18, 2023 edition of OK FM’s Conversation Presentation.

Continuing her reaction to what she sees as a calculated attempt by a handful of individuals to damage the Liberty Party, Cllr. Brumskine said she fully supports Mr. Bility’s action to expel Senator Lawrence and others.

“Yes, I approve the letters of expulsion and revocation of their memberships 100%. Let me tell you why. Every person has the right and the freedom guaranteed by our Constitution to associate. Your membership in a political institution is not a constitutional guarantee. It is a contractual arrangement. You come to the Liberty Party because you believe in the ideology of the party, and you must support the institution if you choose to be a member. Nobody can force anybody to be with any institution. It’s a voluntary institution. But a private entity, a political party, also has rights.
