Former Liberian President and Football legend George M. Weah wrote a condolences message.

🗣️I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of football club Liverpool's great striker, Diogo Jota, who passed away alongside his brother, André Silva, in a terrible road accident on Thursday.

Jota was an extraordinary player and a great personality with so much more to give—to his family, friends, Liverpool, his beloved Portugal, and the entire world football community.

His remarkable contributions on and off the field for club and country earned my deepest admiration.

My heartfelt condolences go out to family, the Liverpool community, and the Portuguese people during this difficult time. May God🙏 bless their souls.

Justice Ministry Reopens Cold Cases from Previous Administration

Monrovia June 2— Justice Minister Oswland Tweh has announced that the Ministry of Justice is launching fresh investigations into several high-profile alleged murder cases from the previous administration, including the case involving a former Executive Protection Service (EPS) boss and the mysterious disappearance of three boys.

Speaking on "Class Reloaded" on Punch FM, Minister Tweh acknowledged public concern over delays in the legal process but explained that the ministry is starting many of the investigations from scratch due to the absence of critical records and evidence.

“There were alleged murder cases under the past regime including the former EPS boss, three missing boys, and a lot more. Some of these cases you don't find records or pieces of evidence for them,” Tweh said.

He emphasized that the lack of documentation has forced the Ministry to rebuild the cases from the ground up, a process that requires time and thorough investigation.

In addition, the Justice Minister addressed the matter of former officials who were sanctioned by the U.S. government. Tweh confirmed that the Liberian government is in discussions with U.S. authorities to obtain evidence related to the sanctions in order to move forward with domestic prosecutions.

“They sanction them, and we need to get the files on their crimes to prosecute them,” he stated.

The Ministry’s renewed efforts signal a push for accountability and transparency in cases that have long been shrouded in mystery and controversy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 14, 2025

We, the Executive members of the National Patriotic Party -NPP, stand in unwavering solidarity with former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor in her rightful pursuit of the retirement benefits she has earned through dedicated service to the Republic of Liberia. It is with a profound sense of urgency and justice that we call upon the Government of Liberia to honor its commitments and fulfill its obligations to one of its distinguished leaders.

Former Vice President Howard-Taylor has served our nation with integrity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of Liberia. Her contributions have been pivotal in advancing national development, fostering peace, and promoting the welfare of all Liberians. It is both unjust and unacceptable that she, after years of commendable service, faces obstacles in receiving what is rightfully hers.

We emphasize that this issue transcends mere bureaucratic oversight; it is a matter of principle, respect, and legal obligation. The failure to provide her entitled benefits not only undermines her legacy but also sets a perilous precedent for future officeholders who dedicate their lives to the public good.

The Government of Liberia must recognize that honoring these commitments is not merely a legal duty but a moral imperative. It reflects the values of fairness, respect, and accountability upon which our democracy is built.Any further delay or denial in addressing this matter erodes public trust and diminishes the dignity of the offices that serve our nation.

We urge the responsible authorities to expedite the process and ensure that Vice President Howard-Taylor receives her full retirement benefits without further delay. This is a critical moment for the Government of Liberia to demonstrate its commitment to justice and to uphold the rights of those who have tirelessly served our beloved country.

In conclusion,we stand firm in our support for Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.

President Boakai Hosts Brainstorming Retreat with the Rescue Legislative Caucus of the House of Representatives

April 21, 2024

Tubmanburg, Bomi County; President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has hosted an assembly of members of the House of Representatives aligned with the Rescue Mission of the Ruling Unity Party and a team of UP leaders and strategists to a one-day Executive-Legislative Agenda Setting Retreat in Tubmanburg, Bomi County on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

The convergence was to compare notes on crafting a more coordinated and effective path to pursuing critical national development goals.

Opening the session at the Bomi City Hall, President Boakai highlighted critical themes in the Agriculture Road Rule of Law Education Sanitation & Tourism (ARREST) Agenda which he said needed to be vigorously pursued by proper messaging and the encouragement of other legislators to support the call of nation building.

The Liberian President and UP Political Leader stressed the need for coordinated and more purposeful working relationship which will engender wider support for the realization of set targets.

He reminded his audience that the ARREST Agenda is not a hidden agenda but one that is open for all and an agenda aimed at taking Liberians out of poverty to prosperity.

The working session brought together more than 20 members of the House of Representatives as they spent hours deliberating on approaches and methods of pushing key points in the legislative agenda as well as a lineup of other development goals of the Government.

At the close of the full-day session, the participants signed and issued a joint resolution reflecting their decisions.
The Resolution signed by representatives of the three parties declared that “the ARREST Agenda is the best suited and in sync with the national development demands of our time.”

They further averred that they see collaboration, consultation and the sense of common purpose as the most reli
