Pres. Weah, Netanyahu Commit to Stronger Economic Cooperation

Balfour, Jerusalem - His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of Liberia and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have stressed the importance of enhancing the long-standing diplomatic ties subsisting between both counties through a vibrant economic cooperation.

The two global icons have common shared values and take similar stances at international forums for world peace and security.

President Weah and Prime Minister Netanyahu made the commitments during a bilateral meeting held at the Prime Minister's Residence, the Balfour in Jerusalem.

The bilateral meeting was part of the Liberian Chief Executive's three-day working visit to the State of Israel.

Both leaders have agreed to work together to improve trade links between both countries to assist Liberia in becoming food sufficient through Israeli investments and technologies. They vowed to help Liberia in the field of agriculture with a focus on rice production, which is Liberia's staple.

Additionally, Prime Minister Netanyahu committed Israel to helping Liberian industries add value to their local agriculture and other yields, such as rubber, oil palm, and cassava, among others.

He then thanked President Weah for his leadership and vision in stirring the affairs of Liberia and for his stance internationally on global peace and security.

"Israel will continue to be a true friend to Liberia and will work for the mutual benefits of Liberians and Israeli," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu averred.

The Liberian Chief Executive thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception accorded his delegation.

He reiterated his call for enhanced relationships between the two countries through trade and commerce that would benefit the people of Liberia and Israel.

Pres. Weah Receives One of Israel's Most Prestigious Awards

Jerusalem, Israel - The President of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah has received the Friends of Zion (FOZ) award - an internationally noted prestigious award - bestowed on eminent personalities who support the virtues and rights of the Jewish State of Israel.

Dr. Weah received the honor on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem.

Presenting the Award, Michael Evans, President of FOZ, recounted President Weah's unwavering stance in support of the Jewish Nation, the State of Israel globally, including at the United Nations and other international forums.

"The Friends of Zion Museum is your home just as Israel is your home. If you support Israel, you support the Jewish people," Mr. Evans maintained.

Speaking further, the FOZ President said President Weah has demonstrated support for the state of Israel on the African continent and global summits.

Earlier, the Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen heaped praises on President Weah not only for his support for the Jewish Nation but also for the great job being done in Liberia and his advocacy for global peace and security

"You are doing great work for the people of Liberia. You have stood and continue to stand for the rights of the Jewish Nation and the world," the Min. Cohen asserted further.

"President Weah deserves the award."

Minister Cohen promised Israel's unwavering commitment to President Weah and the people of Liberia.

Responding, the Liberian Chief Executive thanked the Friends of Zion for the award and reiterated his commitment to the just cause of the Jewish Nation and to world peace.

"This award is a motivation for me to continue what I have been doing for the Jewish people and Israel," President Weah said.

The Friends of Zion Award, since its inception, has been given to presidents and diplomats who fought and advocated for the rights and existence of the Jewish Nation.

The most recent honorees of the award are George W. Bush and Donald Trump, former presidents of the United States of America, as well as Mike Pence, former vice president of the US, as well.

BRITISH MILITARY CONDUCTS SPECIAL TRAINING FOR AFL PERSONNEL

As part of increasing the Armed Forces of Liberia's (AFL) combat readiness for deployment, a team of 10 instructors from the British Military conducted weeks of intensive training for 109 AFL personnel at the Armed Forces Training Command, Camp Ware, Careysburg, Montserrado County, Liberia.

The training which was conducted from 05 to 27 June 2023 covered Counter IED Modules and Lessons, Infantry Skills and Tactics, and Team Medic Courses among others.

A graduation ceremony was held on 28 June 2003 at the AFTC.

During welcome remarks, the Acting Commandant, AFTC, Major Othello Nmah N., extended his thanks and appreciation to the British Training Team for the Training and also to the AFL High Command for their support during the training.

Remarking during the ceremony, the British Ambassador to Liberia, His Excellency Neil Bradley, affirmed his Country's commitment to continue military training and additional support to Liberia's Security Sector.

The Chief of Staff of the AFL, Maj. Gen. Prince C. Johnson, III., presented a plaque as a sign of appreciation to the British Training Team for a job well done and he also assured the team that his men will retain and utilize the knowledge acquired during the course.

The graduating students headed by 2Lt Mulbah, Emmanuel Z. gowned the British Instructors with African attires as appreciation for the training, a gesture that was highly appreciated by the team.

Pres. Weah Urges Stronger Liberia - Israel Ties During Meeting With His Israeli Counterpart

Jerusalem, Israel - The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah has extolled Liberia-Israel relations, emphasizing that both countries have, over the years, shared a long and historic fraternal bond.

President Weah said his visit to Israel is a return to the Holy Land of Divine Blessings.

Speaking at the Israeli State House where he, First Lady Clar Marie Weah and entourage were received by Israel's President Isaac Herzog and Wife Michal, the Liberian Leader said he was delighted to be in Jerusalem the Holy Land. He stressed the need for strengthening the relations between the two countries, especially in the area of agriculture, with a focus on rice production. He said Liberia can also benefit a lot in other areas, including health, education, and trade from Israel.

On International Relations, President Weah reaffirmed Liberia's support to the cause of peace between Palestine and Israel, saying, as the leader of a country coming from war, Liberia foremost international agenda is for the promotion of peace and democracy.

Welcoming President Weah to Israel, President Herzog said it signified President Weah's love for Israel and deep admiration for the Jewish people.

He said Israel takes its relations with Liberia very seriously as it was the first African nation to have established diplomatic relations with the Jewish State.

"We are anxious to foster our diplomatic ties with the opening of an embassy here in Israel," President Herzog averred.

"With the opening of an embassy, Israel can do a lot with Liberia in many areas of cooperation such as agriculture, health, defense, and tourism.

On the international front, President Herzog offered to be of an advocate for the agenda of Liberia, disclosing that he will be addressing the joint session of the US Congress and would be willing to highlight Liberia's case.

"I know of the great relations our three countries share," referencing Liberia, Israel, and the United States.

On a lighter note, President Herzog expressed his delight about the footballing exploits of Timothy Weah, whose professional football skills are now acquired by the famous Italian Club giants Juventus.

Pres. Weah Holds Bilateral Meeting With Israeli Leaders

Jerusalem, Israel - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah will on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, hold bilateral meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

President Weah and entourage arrived Monday in Jerusalem via David Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv for a three-day working visit.

Early Tuesday morning, the Liberian Leader will meet the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, at the Presidential palace, known as Aghion House.

Later in the evening, President Weah, accompanied by government officials, including Ministers and some Members of the 54th Legislature, will hold another bilateral engagement with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the famous Balfour Residence.

The discussions will focus on cementing ties, trade, cooperation on international affairs, peace, and security.

President Weah Dedicates New And Refurbished Buildings for AFL Soldiers

RIA Barracks, Margibi County - The President of the Republic and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has been living up to his commitments to improve the wellbeing of men and women in arms.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, President Weah dedicated a horde of newly constructed and rehabilitated units for use by the Army, describing the move as a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to improve the living standards and welfares of the brave men and women of the AFL and their families.

During a brief ceremony for at the RIA Barracks, President Weah noted that the dedication of various newly-constructed and renovated buildings on various military bases of the country serves as stark reminder of the commitment he made as Commander in Chief during celebrations of last year’s Armed Forces Day.

“On that occasion, I pledged to prioritize the well-being of our gallant soldiers and their families. I promised to provide the necessary resources to enhance their living conditions and ensure their welfare, despite budgetary constraints and competing demands,” the President recalled.

“Today, I am honored to stand before you, witnessing the fulfillment of that promise.”

He said the buildings stand as tangible symbols of the government's commitment to providing the armed forces with the necessary infrastructures and facilities they deserve.

The President said: “These buildings will not only enhance the living conditions of our soldiers but also create an environment that raises morale and fosters a sense of pride within the armed forces. As we cut the ribbon today, let us remember that this dedication ceremony represents more than just physical structures.”

President Weah also accentuated his determination to invest in the welfare of the country’s armed forces by empowering them, amongst other things, to carry out their duties with even greater efficiency and dedication.

"It is a demonstration of our gratitude for their unwavering service and a reaffirmation that we will continue to support them in every way possible," CIC Weah disclosed.

According to him, the dedication of the new structures is not an isolated event but rather a representation of a comprehensive effort to improve the barracks across the country.

He divulged that other bases, including Camp Ware, the Coast Guard Base, and bases in Gbarnga, Buchanan, and Lofa, are also benefitting from this housing expansion program.

The President paid tribute to the men and women in Arms for serving diligently, sacrificing their comfort and safety to protect our beloved nation, intimating that he was under obligation to reciprocate their dedication by ensuring that their well-being is a major concern and a top priority.

"We owe them the highest level of care and support, not just for their own sake, but also for the stability and prosperity of our great nation," he stressed.

The President thanked those who worked for the realization of the project, including the AFL leadership, the Ministry of Defense, as well as the dedicated men and women who have worked tirelessly to bring the vision to fruition.

He called on all Liberians to continue to work together, hand in hand, to create the Armed Forces as a “Force for Good” in the protection and defense of the country and all who reside within her borders.

MICAT receives High-level delegation from South Korea.

A ten-man Korean delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abuja on today May 3, 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) to seek the Liberian government support through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism in their bid to host Busan, Korean Expo-2030.

The team was received by Atty. Daniel C. Gayedyu, Jr. Acting MICAT Boss, Hon. Jarlawah A. Tonpo, Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, and Hon. Princess Turkolon, Acting Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism.

The delegation appreciated the 59 years diplomatic tides between the two countries.

The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism made committments to participate in the expo and keep engaged with the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Pres. Weah Hails LFA, FIFA During Dedication of New Football Headquarters

Monrovia, Liberia - The Chief Patron of Sports, President George Manneh Weah, on Friday, April 28, 2023, dedicated the headquarters of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) in Monrovia.

The President described the construction of the building as a milestone development for football in the Country.

He commended the president II of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, and all executives of the LFA for their great work in helping improve the game in Liberia.

The President also hailed the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports while paying special tribute to the previous leadership of the LFA.

Dr. Weah, a former official of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), used the occasion to pledge his unwavering support to the world football governing body for the development of football, particularly in Africa.

"What we have here today is a fruit of our commitment to support then FIFA President Sepp Blatter and now Gianni Infantino," the Chief Patron of Sports said.

Continuing, President Weah said his government remains committed to working with LFA and FIFA for the development of the game in Country.

He urged the leadership of the LFA, most especially Mr. Raji, to remain focused in the midst of criticisms, noting that "once you are in the public space and making viable impact in the society, you will always be criticized but that should not deter you from being focused and achieving your goals as head of any entity."

The Liberian Chief Executive avowed to continue developing sports in the country.

"We are supporting football and will continue to do more, the LFA's Headquarters, the development of other sports infrastructure, support to the national teams and more are tangible evidence," he told the well attended gathering.

The construction marks the first ever official LFA Headquarters since 1936, and was funded by FIFA in the tune of over US$1.5m, according to President Raji.
