Yesterday, the Revolutionary National Youth Command of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL-NYC) honored an official invitation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the office of the newly appointed Minister, Cornelia W. Kruah. The meeting focused on discussing critical issues affecting young people and the sporting sector of Liberia, as well as exploring how youth chairpersons from various political parties can contribute meaningful solutions to the challenges confronting the youthful population. The engagement was strictly centered on national development and youth empowerment, and not on advancing the agenda of the Unity Party or any other political institution.
As the youth arm of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia, the EFFL-NYC demonstrated a clear understanding of the pressing challenges facing young people, along with practical and sustainable solutions. We accepted the invitation in the spirit of patriotism, placing country and the interests of young people above personal and partisan considerations. During the deliberations, the EFFL-NYC identified several major issues affecting the youth and the sports sector and made strong recommendations, including the full implementation and management of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program under the Ministry’s supervision. We also recommended the establishment of structured internship opportunities for students and recent graduates to address the unrealistic requirement of five to six years of work experience, which continues to deny many qualified young people access to employment opportunities.
The EFFL-NYC remains committed to constructive engagement and national collaboration in order to secure a better future for Liberia’s young generation.
