MOH DONATES AMBULANCE TO NPHIL FOR PORT HEALTH OPERATIONS
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Liberia has donated an ambulance to the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) to strengthen port health operations and emergency response activities at the Roberts International Airport.
The ambulance, which will support surveillance and rapid response efforts, is intended to enhance the capacity of port health teams assigned at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) as Liberia continues to intensify preparedness measures amid the ongoing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreaks reported in parts of Central and East Africa.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Deputy Minister for Administration, Martha Morris, described the donation as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency medical response, disease surveillance, and public health preparedness across the country.
She emphasized that the ambulance will improve the timely transportation of ill travelers and support emergency interventions at the Robert International Airport.
Receiving the keys of the ambulance on behalf of NPHIL, the Co-chair of the Board of Directors, Mr. Walter Gwenigale, Jr., expressed appreciation to the Minister of Health for the support and reaffirmed the NPHIL commitment to protecting the country against the importation and spread of infectious diseases.
He later turned over the keys of the ambulance to the Interim Director-General, Dr. Sia Wata Camanor.
The donation comes as Liberia remains on high alert, with health authorities reinforcing screening, surveillance, and infection prevention and control measures nationwide.
Authorities ask the public to stay calm, follow official public health guidance, and cooperate with ongoing preparedness efforts to protect the health and safety of all Liberians.
