MONROVIA, June 2, 2026- The Secretariat of WAEC wants to clarify that the trending June 1, 2026 Facebook post by Refresh Liberia is fake and is meant to tarnish the hard-earned reputations of the Council and the Liberia National Police.

Refresh Liberia, in her post, published an image of a purported examination center with candidates being supervised by heavily armed Police Officers.

Using an AI Detector, it has been 93% established that the image was created by AI.

The Secretariat wants to state categorically that at no time has the Liberia National Police deployed more than one police officer at any of our examination centers, least to mention them being heavily armed as indicated in the post published by Refresh Liberia.

The Secretariat is therefore calling on Refresh Liberia to immediately retract the post or will leave the Secretariat with no other alternative but to seek legal recourse.

The Secretariat,
WAEC

PRESS RELEASE

WAEC BEGINS FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF DIGITAL CERTIFICATE
SERVICES ACROSS ITS MEMBER COUNTRIES

MONROVIA, February 16, 2025 - The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled the much-anticipated WAEC Digital Certificate Services System (WAEC DigiCert) across all its member countries: The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

The Digital Certificate Services platform is a mobile and Web-based application that provides enormous benefits to the various stakeholders. It is designed to offer simple features that enable users to access, request, confirm or share digital forms of the original certificates. Users can also recover lost WAEC examination numbers on the system.

The system is reliable, the authenticity of the certificates is guaranteed, and the cost benefits to users cannot be overstated.

Following its successful pilot in Nigeria, WAEC DigiCert received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions worldwide.

The general public and all stakeholders are advised to use WAEC DigiCert to avoid administrative challenges and bottlenecks associated with manual certificate issuance and collection.

The Council wishes to assure the general public that the usual printing and issuance of certificates will not be affected by this innovation.

The Mobile App can be downloaded on the App Store or the Play Store for iOS and Android devices, respectively. For more information, visit www.waec.org or our official social media accounts .
