A delegation from the LCAA recently paid a working visit to the AAIB headquarters, where both teams engaged in a detailed review and refinement of the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The discussions were constructive and forward-looking, ensuring that the agreement reflects the shared goals and operational priorities of both institutions.

With the review process successfully concluded, executives from the LCAA and AAIB are poised to officially sign the MOU, ushering in a new era of strengthened collaboration, coordination, and institutional synergy.

The Head of the Legal Unit of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Capt. Jerreck J. Dwanah, Jr., has inspected the ongoing renovation works at the headquarters of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) at the James Spriggs-Payne Airport in Monrovia.

The building, which belongs to the AFL and was used by its Air Reconnaissance Unit(ARU), is being renovated by the AAIB following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.

The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the renovation project, which is intended to transform the facility into a modern and functional headquarters to support the AAIB’s work in aviation accident investigation and the promotion of aviation safety in Liberia.

A delegation from the Ministry of Public Works led by Mr. George Williams Nketsia, Director for Public Building and Construction Standards, has conducted an inspection of the ongoing renovation works at the AAIB Headquarters.

The delegation toured the Administrative Building, where significant upgrades are currently underway to enhance office spaces and improve operational efficiency. The engineers also assessed the structural integrity of the roofing system of the wreckage hangar attached to the administrative building, which is being renovated to provide a more secure and modern facility for the storage and examination of aircraft wreckage materials.

The inspection forms part of efforts to ensure that the renovation works meet the required standards and are progressing according to schedule. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the level of work completed so far and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Bureau’s infrastructure to support effective aircraft accident investigations.
