Kakata, Margibi County – May 23, 2026 — Proceedings before the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in the Quita Kosso Dolo case continue to demonstrate the Government of Liberia’s renewed commitment to accountability and the fight against illicit drugs.

During Friday, May 22 trial proceedings, suspect Quita Kosso Dolo pleaded guilty in connection with the 2025 co***ne trafficking case involving 3.355 kilograms of co***ne seized at Roberts International Airport, while former LDEA Chief of Operations Abdullai Sheriff also pleaded guilty regarding allegations tied to the disappearance of drug exhibits linked to the case.

The LDEA maintains that all individuals implicated will face the full weight of the law through a fair and transparent judicial process. The Agency further reaffirms its commitment to restoring public trust, strengthening institutional integrity, and aggressively confronting the growing drug threat facing Liberia.

US Government, INL, through UNODC Donates Operational Equipment to LDEA
Monrovia, Liberia-May 22, 2026
The United States Government through INL, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), has donated 15 motorcycles and 23 SIM cards with one-year internet subscriptions to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) to strengthen anti-drug operations and rapid response across Liberia.

Speaking during the turnover ceremony, UNODC Country Representative Jesús Aguilar described the donation as a strong demonstration of international cooperation and a major boost to Liberia’s security sector. He emphasized that the support will enhance mobility, communication, and access to hard-to-reach communities as law enforcement continues confronting transnational drug trafficking networks. He praised the LDEA for its growing operational progress and reaffirmed UNODC’s continued partnership and commitment to capacity building.

United States Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joseph E. Zadrozny commended the leadership of LDEA Officer-In-Charge DCP Fitzgerald Biago, describing the fight against illicit drugs as a shared responsibility requiring strong partnerships and trusted leadership. He noted that every drug seizure and prosecution contributes to the safety of Liberia, the region, and the United States, while reaffirming America’s continued support for Liberia’s security and justice sector reforms.

Justice Minister Tweh thanked the U.S. Government, INL, and UNODC for their unwavering support to Liberia’s security sector, describing illicit drugs as a serious threat to the nation’s future and youth. He reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s confidence in the current LDEA leadership and pledged continued collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking.

Receiving the donation, LDEA Officer-In-Charge DCP Fitzgerald Biago expressed appreciation for the timely support, describing it as a major operational boost for officers working under difficult conditions, especially in leeward counties. He assured partners that the equipment will be used responsibly to strengthen enforcement, improve communication, and protect communities across Liberia.

“The LDEA remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and stronger collaboration in the collective fight against illicit drugs and transnational crime,” DCP Biago stated.

The ceremony highlighted the growing partnership and shared commitment between Liberia, the United States Government, and UNODC to advancing regional security and combating drug trafficking.

Four Dismissed LDEA Officers Made First Court Appearance

Monrovia, Liberia – May 20, 2026: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) confirms that four dismissed officers that were previously assigned at the Robert International Airport (RIA), who were dismissed and forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for criminal prosecution on May 5, 2026, appeared today at the 13 judicial circuit court in Margibi county.

The officers were dismissed following a full scale investigations conducted by the LDEA Board of Internal Inquiry and Professional Standards Division into their alleged involvement in Tampering with fruit of the crime(co***ne) that were arrested from defendant Quita Dolo on july 12, 2025,who is currently on trial for drug trafficking charges.

The LDEA maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption, misconduct, and any criminal act that compromises national security and public confidence. The Agency emphasizes that no officer is above the law and remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.

The dismissed officers are;Joe Logan,former Commander,(RIA) Abdullai Sheriff,Chief of Operations, Lovetee Flowers,Dept.Chief of Operations,and Menkpapuo Duo,Operatives. The LDEA continues to closely monitor the matter and will fully cooperate with the Ministry of Justice throughout the prosecution process.

LDEA intercepts a major drug shipment and arrests a suspect in Grand Gedeh County.

Monrovia, Liberia -May 19, 2026 The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency(LDEA), through its Grand Gedeh County Detachment, has recorded another significant breakthrough in the ongoing national crackdown against illegal drugs with the arrest of a suspected trafficker in Gbowo Town, Gate #2 Grand Gedeh County.

During the operations, officers arrested suspect Happiness Kan, a 25-year-old Sierra Leonean national at about 4:00am on the 17th of May 2026 with the following substances;
Ma*****na 10 plates
Lawo(ma*****na) 8cans
Tramadol(Tenpentadol)10 boxes

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is;
1. Ma*****na 10 plates 650.00 USD, and its equivalent is LD 123,500.00
2. Lawo (Ma*****na)8 Can 8.8.00USD and its equivalent in LD is 1,672.00
3.Tramadol(Tenpentadol) 10 boxes 1,052.63¢USD and its equivalent in LD is 200,000.00.
The total estimated street value is USD 1,711.43¢ and its equivalent LD 325,172.00

Meanwhile suspect Happiness Kan is currently undergoing investigation and will be forwarded to court in according to the amended Drugs Law of Liberia.

LDEA Intercepts Major Ma*****na Shipment, Arrests Suspect in Sinoe County

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), through its Sinoe County Detachment, has recorded another significant breakthrough in the ongoing national crackdown against illegal drugs with the arrest of a suspected trafficker in Juazon Town, Sinoe County.

Arrested is 52-year-old Samuel Karzon, a Liberian national and resident of Disco Hill Community, Grand Gedeh County. The suspect was apprehended on May 12, 2026, at approximately 9:00 AM during a targeted enforcement operation conducted by LDEA officers assigned to Sinoe County.

Upon search and inspection, officers uncovered fifteen (15) plates of ma*****na weighing approximately 15 kilograms, with an estimated street value of USD 2,236.84, or its Liberian dollar equivalent of over LD 425,000.

According to preliminary findings, the suspect allegedly concealed the narcotics inside two blue containers placed in a bag and securely tied to a blue-and-white TVS Star motorbike in an apparent attempt to avoid detection while transporting the illegal substances.

The suspect is currently undergoing investigation and will be processed and forwarded to court for prosecution consistent with Liberia’s drug enforcement laws.

The LDEA maintains a zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and related criminal activities. The agency remains committed to aggressively pursuing individuals and networks involved in the distribution of illegal substances across the country.

The LDEA assures the public that sustained operations will continue as part of efforts to protect communities and preserve national security.

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and the Custom Depertment of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) have strengthened ties in a renewed push against drug trafficking across Liberia’s borders.

During a high-level meeting held on May 12, 2026, both institutions agreed to fully enforce the long-standing Integrated Border Management framework, with focus on intelligence sharing, joint investigations, and border inspections.

As part of the collaboration, Customs officers will receive specialized training in drug identification and chain of custody procedures.

The LDEA delegation was led by OIC DCP Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, while the Customs team was headed by Customs Commissioner Saa Saamoi.

The partnership signals a stronger and more coordinated fight against illegal drugs in Liberia.

LDEA Intercepts Major Drug Shipment in Grand Bassa, Launches Manhunt for Suspect

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Grand Bassa County Detachment has intercepted a major quantity of illegal drugs during a routine security operation at the Owensgroves checkpoint
on tuesday, May 12, 2026, at about 7:35 AM, following a search conducted on a gray Toyota commercial vehicle bearing plate number A1975 carrying eight passengers, including the driver discovered
614 grams of Kush
510 grams of Co***ne
4 packs of Tapentadol Tramadol containing 40 strips

The narcotics were found inside a black plastic bag left behind after passengers were instructed to identify and collect their belongings at the LDEA screening area. Investigators later discovered that one passenger, described as wearing black jeans trousers and a red T-shirt, had escaped the scene before the screening process was completed.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is USD 40,342 or approximately LRD 7,664,980.

The LDEA has since launched an active manhunt for the fugitive suspect, while the remaining seven occupants of the vehicle are currently undergoing investigation at the LDEA Grand Bassa County Headquarters.
The Agency remains resolute in its nationwide crackdown on illegal drugs and warns traffickers that no part of Liberia will serve as a safe haven for narcotics activities.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency(LDEA) has terminated the volunteer services of two Action Agents (AA) from monserrado county

On may 5,2026,the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency(LDEA) wishes to inform the public that it has with immediate effect terminated the volunteer services of additional two Action Agent (AA).The two individual involved are;Francis Hodge,formally assigned D-2 Base (New Kru Town) and Darlington Flomo formally assigned D-3 Base (Duport Road). They are therefore disqualified and removed from the ongoing vetting process for the next batch of volunteers to go for training at the Police Academy.

This decisive action is the result of a concluded Internal Investigation which established that both individuals were involved in constant harassment of peaceful citizens,and serious professional misconduct.

The Agency maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption,collusion or any behaviour that threatens the enforcement of the law.Accordingly,their eligibility,ambition,and consideration for admission into the current vetting process are hereby permanently revoked and terminated.

The public is strongly cautioned to desist from engaging,dealing with,or recognizing these individuals in any capacity as representative of the LDEA.

LNP Empowers LDEA Commanders, Sectional Heads in Two-Day Workshop

The Liberia National Police (LNP), in collaboration with the leadership of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), successfully conducted a two-day capacity-building workshop for LDEA commanders, investigators, sectional heads, and their deputies from Montserrado County.

The training was specifically designed to strengthen operational effectiveness, enhance investigative skills, and improve professional conduct in the discharge of duties across various assignments.

The opening ceremony was graced by LDEA, OIC DCP Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, Deputy for Administration Colonel Ernest T. Tarpeh, and ACP Patrick Kormazu, Officer-in-Charge for Operations, and many others.

In OIC remarks delivered on behalf of the administration of LDEA, participants were urged to remain focused, open-minded, and fully engaged throughout the training. Emphasis was placed on the importance of continuous learning, regardless of prior knowledge or experience. Appreciation was also extended to the LNP–LDEA partnership, with facilitators commended for delivering timely and impactful subject matter.
