Thinking out of the box by being innovative. A five years strategic plan for Buchanan city is in preparation. All the relevant stakeholders shall be contacted soon. This will include experts, community dwellers, government officials, ministries and agencies, NGOs, companies,etc.

All hands are needed on desk as we are about to plan the five years development of the second political capital of Liberia. The process is in progress, consultations are ongoing and resources are being mobilized. This process is resourceful, capital intensive and requires skilled people, so we need your support both in finances and expertise.

The goal of this planing process is to see Buchanan growing and developing rapidly.

The plan will cover the following:
1. Agriculture
2.Education
3. Health, hygiene, sanitation and water
4. Investment Infrastructure development
5. Waist management and processing
6. Environmental protection and climate change
7. Administration and governance
8. Security and crimes control
9. Drugs and substance abuse
10.Employment opportunities
11. Staff capable building
12. Recreation and tourism, etc.

Buchanan, August 16, 2024--Thomas Nimely, the City Manager of Buchanan, Liberia's second capital, has disclosed that Buchanan City has been excluded from the recently approved national budget.

In an exclusive interview with reporters on Thursday, August 15, 2024, Nimely expressed frustration over the city's omission from the budget, asserting that it undermines Buchanan's potential for growth and development.

He revealed that the city is currently reliant on royalties from companies and businesses to pay its workers and meet basic needs.

Nimely noted that the city mayor is experiencing significant stress due to the financial challenges faced by the Buchanan City Corporation (BCC). He however, called on prominent citizens, humanitarian organizations, and diaspora Liberians to support the BCC.

The approved National Budget, is intended to fund various national projects, including infrastructure development, education, agriculture, and healthcare services across the country.

THE CITY MAYOR OF BUCHANAN CITY CORPORATION CALLS ON ARCELORMITTAL LIBERIA TO PAY ROYALTIES TO SUPPORT CITY DEVELOPMENT

The City Mayor of Buchanan City Corporation, Mr. George Gaybueh, has appealed to ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) to begin paying royalties to the city to help move the city forward.

Hon. Gaybueh mentioned that AML is operating in Buchanan City and as such they need to start helping to buttress the effort of the Corporation.

Gaybueh stated that other small companies in the county are paying royalties and he is calling on AML to do the same.

He added that the city has embarked on demolishing structures built on the main streets that are hindering progress in the city.

Hon. Gaybueh is also calling on citizens to obtain approval from the City Corporation before building on the main streets, so the Corporation can ensure proper planning.

He mentioned that July 19th and 20th have been set aside as General Clean-up campaign days.

The demolition is part of the city's efforts to clean up and prepare the area for the upcoming festivities.

Makeshift structures, such as temporary shelters or illegal constructions, are being removed from the main streets to ensure public safety and maintain the city's appearance during the celebration
