The Right Honourable the Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Sam Matekane will officially hand over the completed Electrification Project unto the communities of Ha Tlali and Ha Mapotsane in the Mohale’s Hoek District on Friday the 29th of August 2025. The Minister of Energy (a.i) and other Senior Government Officials will form part of the Prime Minister’s Entourage. Come one, come all.

Today 15th December 2021, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Meteorology Mr Themba Sopeng and Project coordinator of the Lesotho Renewable Energy and Energy Access Project (LREEAP) Mrs Mathapelo Silase visited LTV during the Thahameso program show.

They narrated that LREEAP is aimed at creating conditions for more effective delivery of public services in peri-urban and rural areas through provision of sustainable energy services. They also said it contributes towards creating enabling environment for private-sector participation in energy service delivery.

They further explained that the Project Benefits include among others;

Connecting 12, 500 households to grid electricity. Connecting 20 mini-grids in the rural areas of Lesotho to Off-grid systems, Connecting 665 schools,
64 health facilities, 14 agricultural resource centers, 6,450 small businesses, 940 churches and 188 other public buildings

They concluded by disclosing that the project is Implemented within the framework of the Energy Policy 2015-2025, which vision is “Energy shall be universally accessible and affordable in a sustainable manner with minimal negative impacts on the environment”.

Let's individually pray for rain fellows so that we transfer agreed amount of water to South Africa; otherwise we are going to suffer a few sad realities.
1. No royalties will be received from South Africa hence shortage of the country's consolidated fund (We talking tens of millions here).
2. We don't get to produce 72 MW of electricity for ourselves meaning we gonna have to outsource that additional from an already ailing ESKOM or EDM (Mozambique) so as to meet our country's demand (160 MW) during summer.
3. High chances of load sheddings will be experienced countrywide hence our daily lives and fridges' contents threatened.
4. High electricity costs imposed on us due to higher costs of outsourcing from 12 cents to somewhat 10 times that
