Call for Applications: European Parliament's 2026 Sakharov Fellowship for Human Rights Defenders

The Sakharov Fellowship offers up to 14 human rights defenders from non-EU countries a unique opportunity to participate in a two-week intensive training in Brussels and another location in an EU Member State.

๐Ÿ“ช Apply by 15 February 2026 (midnight CET)

Since 2016, this programme has been organised annually to empower human rights defenders through:

๐ŸŒ Insight into EU & international human rights mechanisms
๐Ÿ’ฌ Advocacy and communication training
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tools for security and safety, resilience, disinformation and documentation
๐Ÿค Meeting with high-level EU stakeholders
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Joining the Sakharov Community of human rights defenders

Eligibility:
๐Ÿ’  Proven track record in human rights campaigning
๐Ÿ’  High level of English proficiency

The fellowship covers:
๐Ÿ’  Return travel
๐Ÿ’  Accommodation
๐Ÿ’  Daily living allowance
