Stronger rights for air passengers are on the way! ✈️

Parliament has secured a deal that keeps compensation for flight delays of over 3 hours and makes it easier for travellers to claim what they are owed when flights are delayed, cancelled or disrupted.

The deal also includes:
• Quicker and simpler reimbursement
• Easier access to information on passenger rights and compensation
• Families can sit together, with no extra fees for children under 14 to sit next to their accompanying person
• More transparency on ticket prices, including hand luggage
• Better protection and assistance for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility
• Clearer rules on airline responsibilities when travel plans are disrupted

Passengers flying by air deserve to be treated fairly, and provided clear information and stronger protection, especially when travel plans don’t go as expected.

Human rights must be defended every day.

Listen to Dr Denis Mukwege: gynaecologist, human rights defender, and laureate of both the Sakharov Prize and the Nobel Peace Prize. His work has helped thousands of survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Dr Mukwege reflects on the growing threats facing human rights worldwide and the responsibility we all share to defend them.

“The European Parliament... must stand up for the respect for human rights since that is part of the DNA of the European Union – human rights, democracy”.

Human rights cannot become empty words. They must be lived, protected and made accessible to everyone.

🌊 Over 84.8% of monitored bathing sites in the EU are judged as excellent, according to an assessment carried out by the European Environment Agency.

This is thanks to systematic monitoring and management introduced under the EU's Bathing Water Directive.

🇱🇺 In Luxembourg, 94.1% of bathing waters are rated as excellent quality (2025).

🇷🇸 Serbia must show real commitment to EU values.

Serbia’s government continues to say EU membership is its strategic goal, but MEPs warn that this is often not reflected in its actions.
Progress towards EU membership only possible with rule of law reforms and stronger democratic standards.

Parliament:
-notes that normalising relations with Kosovo is a condition for EU support.
-deplores Serbia’s close ties with Russia and its deepening security and defense cooperation with China.
-points to the low public support for EU membership in Serbia, driven by a long-standing, manipulative, anti-EU narrative.
-stresses that the best way to resolve the political crisis is to hold genuinely free and fair elections.

What should the next euro banknotes look like? You can help decide! 💶
As the European Central Bank is redesigning the euro banknotes, people across the EU are invited to take a survey to help select the final design.

There are 10 designs (A-J) based on two themes:
🏰 European culture: a spotlight on cultural heritage and bringing people together
On the front: Famous Europeans, including Maria Callas, Ludwig van Beethoven, Marie Curie Skłodowska, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Leonardo da Vinci and Bertha von Suttner.
On the back: Shared cultural spaces and activities.

🐦 Rivers & birds: symbolising freedom and unity, as well as connection to nature
On the front: Stages of rivers and birds such as the wallcreeper, kingfisher, bee-eater, white stork, avocet and northern gannet.
On the back: Buildings of European institutions, symbolising the values at the heart of the European project, including environmental protection.
