This is a global emergency.
A total of 254,388 hectares have been burnt in Europe (in particular in Spain, France and Italy) so far this year, which is roughly the size of Luxembourg.
We applaud the courage of the rescue teams on the ground.
Tens of thousands of people had to be evacuated. Lives will be changed forever.
On top of the damage to lives and homes, irreversible damage has been done to wildlife, nature & soil.
We need to do more.
🧯 We need to invest in civil protection & prepare for natural disasters.
🫶 We need to extend solidarity across Europe and help each other in times of crises.
🌳 We need to restore nature & protect our precious ecosystems.
❌ We need to cut emissions and keep on fighting against climate change: no to fossil fuels, yes to renewables
🇪🇺 We need to keep the pressure on EU representatives to move forward with the Green Deal.
We need climate action now.
