[Training incident at Adazi Military Base, Latvia]

NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia can confirm that an incident occurred during a training exercise in the ฤ€daลพi Military Base (AMB) training area on 25 September at approximately 5 p.m. involving four Italian members of our brigade.

The soldiers received immediate medical assistance at the scene and further treatment at the AMB medical clinic. All four soldiers were then subsequently transferred to a civilian hospital in Riga for more specialized treatment. Only one of the four sustained more serious injuries; however, at this time they are not considered to be life-threatening.

The safety and well-being of our soldiers remains our highest priority. An investigation has been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine the factors that contributed to it. It would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause while this process is ongoing.

Understanding the terrain. Understanding the challenge.

Commanders and staff from Multinational Brigade Latvia visited the Baltic Defence Line and engaged with State Border Guard (Latvia) representatives to better understand the operational and security challenges along Latvia's border. By sharing experiences and perspectives, the visit reinforced our collective readiness and commitment to defending NATO's eastern flank.

Engineers and manoeuvre units of the Multinational Brigade Latvia completed Exercise RESOLUTE SAPPER, strengthening their ability to support combat operations in a complex battlefield environment.

Focused on interoperability, coordination and combat readiness, the exercise ensured forces were prepared to support NATO's collective defence. A key component involved constructing complex obstacle systems based on lessons learned from modern conflicts, followed by a combined arms breach.

Engineers and manoeuvre forces worked together to create and secure lanes through obstacles, enabling freedom of movement for follow-on forces.

Earlier last month, as part of a planned training activity, the Multinational Logistic Unit of our Brigade took its convoy training onto the roads between ฤ€daลพi and Sฤ“lija. ๐Ÿš›

Multiple vehicles moved in several groups, giving multinational teams the opportunity to practise convoy procedures, coordination and movement together in a real environment.

Thank you to the communities along the route for their patience and support while our troops trained.

That is how a sergeant serving with our Brigadeโ€™s Multinational Medical Unit describes aeromedical evacuation training with the CH 146 Griffon.

Medics worked with two patient loading configurations, each suited to a different situation: cross load when speed on the ground matters, and the half litter kit when more casualties need to move through the medical evacuation chain.

The Multinational Battle Group (MNBG) trained in and around Daugavpils during an Exercise focused on defense and deterrence on NATOโ€™s Eastern Flank.

The exercise used a fictional scenario in which opposing forces attempted to seize key infrastructure in eastern Latvia. A company from the MNBG deployed to reinforce national forces, regain control of key locations, and restore territorial integrity.

Training in Latviaโ€™s eastern region tested rapid deployment, command and control, mobility, and multinational cooperation with the National Guard. It demonstrated the readiness of the MNBG to defend every part of Latvia and contribute to the collective defense of NATOโ€™s Eastern Flank.

Sometimes keeping a force moving starts with removing what's in the way.

Engineers from our Brigade recently practiced breaching drills, reducing obstacles and creating safe passage for friendly forces.

Working side by side, Allied engineers refined shared procedures, communication and teamwork.
