Today, Slovenia celebrates 🇸🇮🐴 Lipizzan Horse Day for the very first time! 🎉
Declared by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, May 19 is dedicated to one of the country’s most noble and iconic symbols — the magnificent Lipizzaner horse. 🐴🇸🇮
Did you know that the Lipizzaner originates from Slovenia? The world-famous breed was named after the village of Lipica in the Karst region, where the original stud farm was established in 1580 — making it one of the oldest stud farms in the world. 🌍
Known across Europe and beyond for their elegance, strength and classical riding tradition, Lipizzaners were once considered the “Jewels of the Habsburg crown.” Today, they remain a proud symbol of Slovenian heritage and culture.
Lipizzaners are also world-renowned as the horses of the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna, where they perform the centuries-old tradition of classical dressage admired by audiences from around the world.
💡And here’s a fascinating fact: although famous for their majestic white colour, Lipizzaner horses are actually born dark — black, brown or grey — and only become white as they grow older. ✨
The centuries-old tradition of Lipizzaner horse breeding is also inscribed on the 🇺🇳 UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, recognising its exceptional cultural value for humanity.🇸🇮💚🐴

Saskaņā ar Slovēnijas Republikas valdības lēmumu, 19. maijs ir veltīts vienam no valsts cildenākajiem un ikoniskākajiem simboliem — lieliskajam Lipicas zirgam🇸🇮🐴.
Vai zinājāt, ka Lipicas zirgu izcelsme ir Slovēnija ⁉️Pasaulslavenā šķirne tika nosaukta Lipicas ciema vārdā Krasas reģionā, kur 1580. gadā tika dibināta sākotnējā zirgaudzētava — viena no senākajām zirgaudzētavām pasaulē. 🌍
Lipicas🐴 ir pazīstami visā Eiropā un ārpus tās ar savu eleganci, spēku un klasiskās jāšanas tradīcijām. Kādreiz tos uzskatīja par “Hābsburgu kroņa dārgakmeņiem”. Arī mūsdienās tie joprojām ir lepns Slovēnijas kultūras mantojuma simbols, iekļauts 🇺🇳 UNESCO Pasaules mantojuma sarakstā.
