In the early 1990s, in the Swedish village of Malung, a group of friends gathered in a basement with their computers and played long into the night – the spark that would eventually grow into DreamHack.

Today, DreamHack is the world’s largest digital festival, bringing together thousands of gamers across Europe and North America. 🌍

Activities includes professional e-sports tournaments, amateur and high-school gaming tournaments, bring-your-own-computer LAN parties, cosplay, art, expo and screenings.

Minecraft is an example with massive impact. This game shows how creativity and technical talent can spark a cultural and commercial phenomenon all around the world. Minecraft's success is fuelled by collaboration. It's an ever-evolving world, where a global community of players shape the game by building structures, designing landscapes, creating custom adventures, and sharing their ideas with others. 💡

What began as a side project by Swedish developer Markus ‘Notch’ Persson became one of the most successful digital products in the world. First released in 2009, Minecraft has grown into the best-selling video game of all time, with more than 300 million copies sold globally. It is also part of a much broader creator and digital media ecosystem, with Minecraft-related content surpassing one trillion views on YouTube.

Powered by gamers around the world, Minecraft remains one of Sweden’s most iconic contributions to global gaming. 🌐✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Sarunu festivāls LAMPA 2026!

We were happy and humbled to welcome so many Latvians to our events in the Nordic Island tent, from exploring the world of 🇸🇪 Swedish video games to celebrating 10 years of the SSE Riga Future Leaders Academy - Jauno līderu akadēmija together with Stockholm School of Economics in Riga .

We were also proud to be part of the discussions alongside our Nordic partners and to see so many people participating in our community lunch inspired by the Danish folkekøkken tradition.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their perspectives, and made this year's festival such a memorable experience. 🌿✨

Happy Birthday HRH Crown Princess Victoria. 🎉🇸🇪

Today on 14 July, Sweden celebrates the birthday of Crown Princess Victoria, Duchess of Västergötland and heir to the Swedish throne, born in 1977.

While Victoria Days are being celebrated on Öland, we also recall her visit to Latvia this spring, where she met President Edgars Rinkēvičs and visited the Swedish Battalion.
