📣Good news! There is still time to submit your nomination for the Human Rights Tulip Award 2026!

🏆 The winner will receive a EUR 5,000 prize to support their work in Latvia.
Moreover, the Embassy winner will be automatically nominated into the global Central Tulip with other Embassy Tulip winners. Out of 26 Embassy Tulip winners, 5 will be selected as Central Tulip finalists to participate in a 4-Day Fellowship in the Netherlands and 1 final Central Tulip winner will receive a grand prize of EUR 50,000!

We had the honor to peer behind the curtain and see how the elections in Latvia are organized. 🗳️ Thank you to Māris Zviedris, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Centrālā vēlēšanu komisija, for welcoming us! We had a discussion on how to ensure a secure election in the complex geopolitical climate and how the election systems differ between the two countries.

📸 Inspiring to meet Dutch artist Rogier Arents at the opening of his exhibition, Line 1. Līnija, at the RIXC Gallery. Using slit-scan photography, the exhibition captures Riga from an unexpected perspective, transforming familiar cityscapes into unique visual compositions.

🖼️ The exhibition is on view at the RIXC Center for New Media Culture until 25 September 2026.

🎓🇳🇱🇱🇻 We were pleased to welcome a group of Erasmus+ students at the residence, where they met with Ambassador Carl Peersman to discuss Dutch-Latvian relations, the work of the Embassy and 🇪🇺 affairs. Engaging with young people is essential, as their ideas and perspectives help shape the future of our societies.

Suddenly, the floods come. Do you know what to do? 🦺

When a crisis hits, you and your neighbors might become first responders. Waiting for help is not always an option. Thinking through scenarios of action is exactly what we did in Sarunu festivāls LAMPA this year with our interactive game "Safety Code: Community" developed by Latvijas Platforma attīstības sadarbībai - LAPAS.

Thank you to our moderator Inese Vaivare, community activists Zane Ločmele (Krāslava) and Santa Harjo-Ozoliņa (Alūksne), Artūrs Keslers from Valsts ugunsdzēsības un glābšanas dienests (State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia), Guna Bazone from the Riga municipality and Arturs Smilga from Valsts policija (State Police) for sharing their know-how on the little details you need to think of. And thank you to everyone who got involved!

We left with fewer illusions and better instincts. 🤝💪
