From Investment Ambition to Hard Questions: A Personal Experience (Morocco, 2008–2010)
In 2008, I returned to Morocco with a clear objective:
to invest, transfer knowledge, and contribute to the development of local expertise in SAP consulting and advanced technologies.
The initial steps were structured and promising — engaging with institutions, exploring partnerships, and participating in academic and professional initiatives.
However, as the experience unfolded, I encountered challenges that went beyond the usual difficulties of launching a project:
- lack of clarity in certain processes
- structural obstacles to funding
- and situations that raised important ethical and professional questions
At one point, I was faced with a situation that required a clear decision:
compromise my principles… or step back.
I chose to step back.
This post is not about blaming anyone.
It is about sharing a real experience and asking a broader question:
👉 How can we foster investment and innovation without transparency, trust, and ethical alignment?
I remain convinced that Morocco has strong potential.
But unlocking it requires more than ambition — it requires the right environment.
