New Heavy Machinery Boosts Infrastructure

On February 20, 2026, the Ministry held a blessing ceremony for the new heavy equipment adding to the existing lineup of heavy machinery intended to boost the Ministry's efforts with ongoing development of national infrastructure works. The new additions include three excavators, three dump trucks, and three bulldozers. Honorable Minister Thomas highlighted in his keynote remarks, the unfortunate delay in the acquisition of the new equipment but stressed the importance of the Ministry's efforts to continue with infrastructure development of docks, ramps, airport runways, and coastal protection measures which tie in with the RMI Government's Agenda 2030 initiatives and the adaptation and mitigation efforts against the effects of climate change....

PRESS RELEASE

October 13-17, 2024:

PMU Manager James Myazoe II was accompanied by PMU Contracts Specialist Melvin Dacillo and PMU Inspector Fritzad Reiher to Brisbane, Townsville, and the Sunshine Coast to engage with the Australia-based contractor, Hall Contracting, who are responsible for the construction of the Ebeye Seawall being implemented by the World Bank’s Prep II Project.

The team inspected and witnessed the prefabrication of concrete stairs that will be used for the Ebeye Seawall. Among the things also inspected by the team included heavy equipment, storage facilities, loading barges, and various other equipment which will be shipped to Ebeye.

Various coastal infrastructure and projects undertaken by the contractor were also looked at to provide insight on potential coastal infrastructure developments in the RMI.

The PMU team also engaged with relevant stakeholders involved in the Prep II Project to ensure project continuity.

The team’s activities are outlined below:

- Visit to Civil Plus Pre-Casting Facility in Townsville (Queensland), Australia for the precast units to be used for the PREP II Ebeye Seawall Project

- Visit Sunshine Coast Office of Hall Contracting Main Office to check all Heavy Equipment and Materials being prepared for Ebeye Mobilization

- Visit Brisbane Office of Hall Contracting Office to meet with Australian Business Council

- Visit Hall Contracting projects in Buderim and Sunshine Coast projects
