📢 Advancing dialogue on occupational health in the region

A recent regional conference on 🛡️ occupational medicine and occupational safety and health (OSH), held from 7–10 May 2026 at the Faculty of Medicine, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia brought together experts to address current and emerging workplace challenges.

The event created an important platform for knowledge exchange on how to strengthen safer and healthier working environments—particularly in the face of evolving risks affecting workers across sectors.

💡 Key takeaways from discussions on psychosocial risks, with contributions from Milan Petkovski, ILO Project Coordinator of "Towards a Safe and Healthy Working Environment in Macedonia":

➡️ The growing impact of psychosocial risks on both mental and physical health
➡️ Consequences for productivity, absenteeism, staff retention, trust, and safety culture
➡️ Persistent challenges among health workers, including stress, burnout, harassment and workplace violence
➡️ The urgent need for stronger, more responsive organizational support systems

✅ A clear message emerged:
Psychosocial risks are real, measurable, and must be fully integrated into occupational safety and health frameworks—from policy development to risk assessment and institutional response.

🏗️ Building safer and healthier workplaces requires:

✔ Stronger preventive approaches
✔ Improved data collection and evidence-based action
✔ Enhanced institutional capacity
✔ A culture of trust, dialogue, and support

Addressing psychosocial risks is central to achieving safe, healthy and productive working environments for all.

Република Северна Македонија активно учествува на 35-тата Регионална конференција на Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) за Европа и Централна Азија во Таџикистан, каде се дискутира за иднината на агро-прехранбените системи, климатските промени, обезбеденоста со храна и руралниот развој.

Заменик-министерот за земјоделство, шумарство и водостопанство, Албрим Хоџа, учествува на дискусии на високо ниво посветени на иновациите во земјоделството и регионалната соработка.

Во рамки на конференцијата, Албрим Хоџа е избран и за потпретседавач на конференцијата, претставувајќи ја Северна Македонија во раководните структури на овој значаен регионален форум.

🌍 Call for Applications: UNODC Youth Workshop on Climate Change and Corruption
9–10 June 2026
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through its GRACE initiative and in collaboration with the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law in Skopje, invites students in Skopje to take part in a unique two-day interactive workshop on 9–10 June 2026 exploring the links between climate change and corruption.
Using the innovative and globally recognized Climate Fresk methodology, participants will take part in collaborative, card-based exercises designed to help them better understand:
🌱 the science behind climate change;
🤝 how corruption can undermine environmental action; and
💡 how young people can promote transparency, integrity, and accountability in their communities.
No prior expertise is required — only curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to participate actively.
📍 Format: In person
🗣 Language: English
📅 Duration: Two full days (9–10 June 2026)
🎓 Eligibility: Open to students and young people interested in climate action, governance, anti-corruption, and social change.
Participants who actively engage throughout the workshop will receive a UNODC GRACE Certificate of Completion. Additional opportunities for future engagement with UNODC will also be presented during the workshop. Coffee and lunch breaks will be covered by UNODC.

🎬 Истакнувајќи ја моќта на младите како агенти на општествени промени, Алијансата на цивилизациите на Обединетите нации (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)) го објави Повикот за Пријави за 2026 година на својот Младински видео фестивал PLURAL+ PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival, повикувајќи млади филмски автори од целиот свет да испратат кратки видеа што за актуелни општествени прашања. : Паркот на природата Езерани – покрај Преспанското Езеро, секоја пролет и есен станува дел од голема миграциска рута на илјадници птици преселници.

Локацијата претставува важно одмориште, место за хранење и засолниште за многу видови птици на нивното долго патување меѓу континентите.

🦜🕊️По повод , потсетуваме дека зачувувањето на влажните живеалишта, чистата вода и природниот баланс е клучно за опстанокот на птиците преселници.

Во изминатите години, фокусот на нашите активности во Паркот на природата Езерани беше насочен кон институционално зајакнување за подобро управување со заштитеното подрачје, вклучително и активности за мониторинг на птици, риби и мочуришни живеалишта, како и мерки за зачувување на екосистемот на Преспанското Езеро.
