🇱🇹 Today, Lithuania marks Freedom Day.

33 years ago, the last russian troops left Lithuania. Despite difficult negotiations, Lithuania stood firm and, through determined political and diplomatic efforts, secured the withdrawal of russian troops from its territory.

A diplomatic victory that finally consolidated Lithuania’s restored independence.

Prieš 33 metus paskutiniai Rusijos kariuomenės daliniai paliko Lietuvos teritoriją.

1990 m. kovo 11 d. Lietuvai atkūrus nepriklausomybę, Lietuvoje dislokuoti sovietų kariai nesitraukė iš šalies teritorijos. Bandydama slopinti Lietuvos valstybingumą, sovietinė valdžia 1991 metų sausį panaudojo karinę jėgą prieš taikius Lietuvos gyventojus.

Žlugus SSRS ir Rusijai perėmus sovietinę kariuomenę, 1992 m. prasidėjo derybos tarp Lietuvos ir Rusijos, kurių metu patvirtintas rusų kariuomenės išvedimo grafikas. Nepaisant sudėtingo derybų proceso, Lietuvos Respublikos Vyriausybė užėmė tvirtą poziciją ir politinėmis bei diplomatinėmis pastangomis pasiekė, jog Lietuvos teritorijoje dislokuoti rusų kariai būtų išvesti.
Ši diplomatinė pergalė galutinai įtvirtino valstybės nepriklausomybę. 🇱🇹

Drones are reshaping modern defence – and Lithuania has a growing role to play in the technologies behind them.

Invest Lithuania highlights Lithuania’s expanding drone and counter-drone ecosystem, building on existing strengths in AI, electronics, photonics, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.

Combined with NATO and EU market access and growing public support for defence innovation, Lithuania is well positioned to develop technologies ranging from sensors and optics to autonomous systems, counter-UAS and secure communications.

For Lithuania, this means stronger defence capabilities, new investment and export opportunities, and a growing role in Europe’s defence technology supply chains.

The Lithuanian Embassy Office in Skopje extends its deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Norway and our dear Norwegian colleagues and friends at Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V. His Majesty’s wisdom, dignity and unwavering devotion to Norway will be remembered with profound respect. Lithuania shares Norway’s sorrow at this difficult time. 🇱🇹🇳🇴

Sa dubokim žaljenjem objavljujemo da je Njegovo Veličanstvo kralj Harald preminuo. Kralj Harald je umro mirno danas, u petak 28. avgusta u 6:35 časova, u Rikshospitalet bolnici Univerziteta u Oslu.

Knjiga žalosti će biti otvorena za one koji žele da izraze saučešće povodom smrti Njegovog Veličanstva kralja Haralda V, u rezidenciji ambasadora Norveške, Vladete Kovačevića 14, u:

- Utorak, 1. septembar, od 14:00 do 16:00 časova
- Sreda, 2. septembar, od 09:00 do 11:00 časova
- Četvrtak, 3. septembar, od 14:00 do 16:00 časova

It is with deep grief that we announce that His Majesty King Harald has passed away. King Harald died peacefully at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet Friday 28 August at 6:35 AM.

A protocol will be opened for signature for those who wish to convey their condolences on the death of His Majesty King Harald V, at the residence of the Ambassador of Norway, Vladete Kovacevica 14 on:

-Tuesday, 1st September, 14:00 to 16:00 hours
-Wednesday, 2nd September, 09:00 to 11:00 hours
-Thursday, 3rd September, 14:00 to 16:00 hours

On August 23, 1989, two million people joined hands across Lithuania 🇱🇹, Latvia 🇱🇻 and Estonia 🇪🇪, forming a 650 km human chain to stand for freedom and against soviet occupation.

The remains a powerful symbol of unity, courage and resilience. Its spirit lives on - in our unity and our unwavering support for Ukraine 🇺🇦 in its heroic fight defending freedom and European values against russian imperialism.
