The Dry Zone Greening Department has being established with the following objectives.
i. Make the arid region lush, green and beautiful;
ii. Maintain ecology systems;
iii. Fullfill basic forest produce requirements of the rural people;
iv. Carry out socioeconomic development of the rural people;
v. Make the regional people aware of the value and essence of the forest and trees;
vi. Enhance public knowledge about conservation and promotion of natural environment; and secure its participation;
vii. Maintain climatic balance that will help cultivation works; and
viii. Combat desertification.
