The New Zealand Embassy Yangon was proud to support “Pochisilk” (www.facebook.com/pochisilk) in delivering weaving skills development and natural dyeing workshops to rural young women from Mandalay Region, through the New Zealand Embassy Fund.

A core part of this project is supporting traditional Myanmar cultural artistry and promoting sustainable weaving practices. It created valuable opportunities for participants to strengthen their weaving skills and creativity by introducing new weaving materials, including banana threads, along with a variety of natural dyeing techniques. Participants also gained basic business skills, including profit calculation and cost management, equipping them to improve product quality, increase their earning potential, and create more resilient, and independent livelihoods.

၁၉၈၇ ခုနှစ်မှာ မော်ရီဘာသာစကားဟာ နယူးဇီလန်နိုင်ငံရဲ့ တရားဝင်ဘာသာစကားဖြစ်လာပြီး အစိုးရက ကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်ပေးရမယ့် အမွေအနှစ်တစ်ခုလည်း ဖြစ်လာခဲ့ပါတယ်။

မော်ရီဘာသာနဲ့ စကားတစ်ခွန်းပြောဆိုလိုက်တိုင်း ဒီဘာသာစကားကို မျိုးဆက်သစ်များအတွက် ရေရှည်တည်တံ့ခိုင်မာစွာရှိနေစေဖို့ အထောက်အကူပြုပါတယ်။ မော်ရီဘာသာစကား အစဉ်အမြဲ တည်တံ့နိုင်ပါစေ။

Māori became an official language of New Zealand in 1987and it’s a taonga (treasure) that our government works to protect.

“The Art of Living Heritage – Tavoy”

Heritage continues to live in the hands of today’s generation

With the support of the New Zealand Embassy Yangon, Myanmar, Sunflower Natural Dye Textiles is pleased to present the exhibition “The Art of Living Heritage – Tavoy”, held in conjunction with the closing ceremony of the six-month “Empower Tavoy Handloom Weaving Industry Development Project.”

The exhibition will take place in a heritage building in Yangon, bringing together traditional handloom artisans, a new generation of weavers, textile designers and those who love for handwoven textiles. It will provide an opportunity to celebrate Tavoy’s rich weaving heritage and explore how this living tradition can continue into the future.

At the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to see:

- Traditional Tavoy weaving patterns from heritage textile collectors
- Tavoy handwoven textiles created by the last remaining traditional handloom artisan currently practicing in Tavoy
- The launch of “Heritage – Handloom – Tavoy Pattern,” a book documenting and preserving these traditional weaving patterns
- Handwoven textile created by the new generation, who are carrying forward and preserving this heritage
- Creative works by textile designers and creators from Yangon, inspired by Tavoy’s traditional weaving heritage

A selection of traditional Tavoy cuisine will also be presented at the exhibition.

Everyone is warmly invited to join us in celebrating and keeping this living heritage alive.

In Myanmar the focus of the Asian Mega Deltas Initiative has been on digital climate advisory services for smallholder rice, pulse and fish farmers in the Ayeyarwady Region. Since 2023, New Zealand’s support has reached nearly 140,000 farmers with timely, customised and actionable advisory services, based on improved climate data. The advisory services, delivered in partnership with the private sector, have enabled famers to minimise climate-related losses through their adaptation of agricultural practices including the timing of their planting and harvesting. The extension of the initiative will support increased usage of digital climate advisory services and their expansion to other crops and regions.

လုပ်ကြံခြင်း၊ အကြမ်းဖက်ခြင်းနှင့် လူ့အသက်ကို သတ်ဖြတ်ခြင်းတို့သည် နိုင်ငံတစ်နိုင်ငံ၏ အနာဂတ်ကို ပုံဖော်ရန်အတွက် မည်သည့်အခါမျှ လက်ခံနိုင်ဖွယ် နည်းလမ်းများ မဟုတ်ကြောင်းကို အာဇာနည်နေ့က ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အား သတိပေးနေပါသည်။ ရေရှည်တည်တံ့သော ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးကို ဆွေးနွေးညှိနှိုင်းမှု၊ အပြန်အလှန် လေးစားမှုနှင့် လူသားဆန်စွာ ဆက်ဆံတတ်မှုတို့ဖြင့်သာ တည်ဆောက်နိုင်ပါသည်။

ဤအောက်မေ့ဖွယ်နေ့တွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဆိုပါ အမျိုးသားခေါင်းဆောင်ကြီးများကိုသာမကဘဲ လွတ်လပ်မှု၊ တရားမျှတမှု၊ တန်းတူညီမျှမှုနှင့် မိမိတို့လူမျိုးများ၏ အခွင့်အရေးများအတွက် ကြိုးပမ်းရင်း အသက်ပေးခဲ့ကြသော မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၏ မတူကွဲပြားသည့် တိုင်းရင်းသားလူမျိုးအားလုံးကိုလည်း ဂုဏ်ပြုအောက်မေ့ အလေးပြုပါသည်။

Today, we commemorate Martyrs' Day and honour the memory of General Aung San and the eight other martyrs who were assassinated on 19 July 1947, a tragedy that changed the course of Myanmar’s history.

Martyrs' Day is a reminder that assassination, violence, and the taking of human life can never be an acceptable way to shape a nation's future. Lasting peace can only be built through dialogue, mutual respect, and our shared humanity.

On this day of remembrance, we pay tribute not only to these national leaders, but also to all those from Myanmar's diverse ethnic communities who have lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom, justice, equality, and the rights of their people.

မော်ရီ‌တိုင်းရင်းသားများရဲ့ နှစ်သစ်ကူးပွဲတော် “မာတာရီကီ” ကို ကြိုဆိုပါတယ်။ ဤအချိန်ဟာ မိမိကိုယ်ကို ပြန်လည်သုံးသပ်ပြီး အမှတ်ရသင့်သည်များကို ပြန်လည်အောက်မေ့ကာ အနာဂတ်ကို ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ရှိရှိရှေးရှုသင့်တဲ့ အချိန်ကာလဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

“မာတာရီကီနေ့”မှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ဟာ အတိတ်ကာလတွေမှာ ဆုံးရှုံးခဲ့ရသူတွေကို အောက်မေ့အမှတ်ရသလို ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ကာလကိုလည်း ချစ်ခင်သူဆွေမျိုးအသိုင်းအဝိုင်းတွေနဲ့ အတူတူဖြတ်သန်းပြီး အနာဂတ်ကာလအတွက် ရည်မှန်းချက်တွေ၊ မျှော်လင့်ချက်တွေကို မျှဝေခံစားကြပါတယ်။
