THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MYANMAR ENGAGES FILIPINO EDUCATORS THROUGH FOURTH KAPIHAN SA PASUGUAN
YANGON, 19 July 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar brought together Filipino educators for the fourth Kapihan sa Pasuguan.
The session recognized the important role of Filipino educators, who represent the largest professional sector within the Filipino community in Myanmar. Of the approximately 800 Filipinos in the country, 396 Filipino teachers serve in international schools across Myanmar.
In his welcome remarks, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Angelito A. Nayan highlighted the trust placed in Filipino educators and recognized their role in nurturing values, building character, strengthening cross-cultural understanding, and embodying the best of the Filipino spirit through their work.
The gathering also served as a follow-through to the Embassy’s job-site visits to schools employing Filipino teachers over the past months. The Embassy provided updates on its recent and upcoming activities and consular services. During the open forum, participants shared their experiences, raised consular queries, and discussed common employment-related concerns.
It likewise marked the tenth anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Award on the South China Sea, reaffirming the Philippines’ commitment to the rule of law and the peaceful settlement of disputes. It further observed National Disability Rights Week and concluded with fellowship and karaoke in celebration of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino.
Through Kapihan sa Pasuguan, the Philippine Embassy reaffirms its commitment to sustained engagement with the Filipino community in Myanmar. END
