🚨 REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC 🚨

BECQ reminds all residents that illegal dumping is prohibited and will be enforced in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Improper disposal of household waste and other materials can harm our environment, public health, and community safety.

All household trash must be properly disposed of at permitted disposal facilities. Residents are encouraged to utilize the Department of Public Works (DPW) Transfer Station, which remains open to receive residential waste.

✅ Residential disposal fees at the DPW Transfer Station have been waived until further notice.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in keeping our island clean and safe. Violations of illegal dumping regulations may result in enforcement actions, fines, and penalties.

For a cleaner and healthier community, please dispose of your waste responsibly and report any illegal dumping activities to DEQ.

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, our community continues to face challenges with water safety. Flooding and storm damage may have compromised water sources, making even non-potable water unsafe for everyday use.

If you are using water for bathing, brushing, or cleaning, please take the time to disinfect it properly. This simple step can help reduce exposure to harmful bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants that may affect your health and your family’s well-being.

Your safety matters. Take precautions, look out for one another, and continue to stay informed as recovery efforts move forward.

In accordance with the Declaration of Typhoon Condition II for the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota, all government offices will remain closed until an “All Clear” declaration is announced.

The CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM), through the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, will continue to monitor the movement of Typhoon Sinlaku and will be issuing bulletins and advisories as they become available.

Preparedness today can make a critical difference in protecting lives and minimizing damage.”

On behalf of the Commonwealth, I assure you that we are actively monitoring the storm and coordinating appropriate efforts with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office and the National Weather Service. The Division of Environmental Quality is offering FREE Radon Testing to the general public.

DEQ is actively seeking to conduct in-home testing to better assess and address radon exposure within the CNMI.

Residents interested in scheduling a home test are encouraged to contact DEQ’s Clean Air Program at [email protected] or call (670) 664-8500/01.
