The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is officially reopening on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with temporary services following Super Typhoon Sinlaku.

Here are the key details for your visit:
Operating Hours & Access
Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Closures: The library remains closed on weekends and public holidays.

Time Limit: Patron visits are limited to one (1) hour per session due to structural and ventilation constraints.

Restricted Areas: Physical access to library stacks is limited to designated areas only.

Available Services Technology: The Information Technology Center has moved to the Children’s Library. Use is limited to one hour for essential tasks on a first-come, first-served basis. Free Wi-Fi is available.

Curbside Pick-up: Available by appointment. You can reserve materials online at www.cnmilib.org via OPAC or by calling (670) 235-7322.

Children’s Services: The “Children of Our Homeland” area is open with a one-hour limit per family.
Read Aloud Sessions: Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
Sensory Corner: Available by appointment for families with children with disabilities.
Important Policies
Overdue Fees: All overdue fees accumulated during the closure and initial recovery period are waived.
Damaged Materials: If you have books damaged by flooding or storm leaks, do not attempt to repair them. Return them to the circulation desk for formal assessment.

“Public Notice: Joeten-Kiyu Public Library Temporarily Closed Due to Super Typhoon
Sinlaku”

[Saipan, MP] — Due to the impacts and ongoing safety concerns caused by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library (JKPL) will be temporarily closed to the public until further notice. The safety and well-being of our patrons, staff, and community remain our highest priority as our island continues recovery efforts following the storm. Library administration and staff are currently assessing conditions, damages, and cleaning to ensure that library facilities are safe before reopening to the public.

During this closure period, late fees will not be applied for any borrowed library materials. Patrons are encouraged to safely hold onto their items until normal operations resume. Updates regarding reopening schedules and library services will be shared through official JKPL communication channels and social media platforms.

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library extends its thoughts and prayers to all families and communities affected by Super Typhoon Sinlaku. We encourage everyone to remain safe, support one another, and prioritize recovery and well-being during this difficult time.

This week, libraries around the world are celebrating National Library Week with this year’s theme, "Find Your Joy at Your Library."

Traditionally, we announce our Employee of the Year during our National Library Week Proclamation Signing. While we have had to postpone our scheduled events until further notice due to the current unprecedented situation, we will not delay recognizing an outstanding individual who has contributed so much to our institution.

Please join me in congratulating our Children's Librarian, Mrs. Celina Camacho Foreman, as our Employee of the Year. Mrs. Foreman has dedicated two decades to Library Services, and we are proud to recognize her tireless efforts and dedicated service to our community and patrons.
