Financial Assistance Update:

The Red Cross concluded accepting new applications for Individual Financial Assistance (IFA) at the close of business on August 4th at 6pm. No new applications will be received going forward.

The Red Cross will continue to provide casework processing support through Friday, August 15 for individuals who initiated a financial request application by the August 4 deadline.

In-person support is available at the Municipal Council Building (next door to Post Office) each day from 9 am to 6 pm through August 15.

The Red Cross Disaster Relief Operation for Typhoon Bavi will conclude at the end of the Day Friday, August 15.

We understand concerns about long lines and wait times at our Immediate Financial Assistance (IFA) sites. Please know that if you are seeking assistance, you will have the opportunity to apply and have your eligibility reviewed. All qualified applicants will receive assistance and there is time to submit applications.

Our teams are working as quickly as possible to process applications fairly and accurately. If you are unable to visit a location today, additional sites and operating hours are available.

The American Red Cross announces the opening of Resource Centers on Guam to provide individual assistance (IFA) for households that were impacted by Typhoon Bavi.

Assistance is available only to individuals whose primary residences (structures) were destroyed or suffered major damage.

Please be sure to bring the requested documents for proof of Identity and Address Verification.

Proof of Identity:
• Passport (highly preferred)
• Permanent Resident Cards
• Government/Military ID’s

Address Verification:
• Mayor’s Verification Letter (highly preferred)
• Recent Utility Bill
• Rental Agreements
• Mortgage Statements

If you have questions about American Red Cross financial assistance of other services, call your local Red Cross. For CNMI call 670-234-3459 and for Guam call (671) 472-6217.

All Red Cross services, including financial assistance, are available to individual regardless of citizenship status, nationality, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, class, or political opinions.

The Red Cross is a charity, not a government agency and people do not need to be American citizens to receive our help.

Red Cross financial assistance is not a loan and will never need to be repaid.

Typhoons don't just damage buildings, they damage the places people love. This weekend, Tinian showed up to take some of that back.

From 3-year-olds to seniors, and volunteers who traveled from around the world, neighbors rolled up their sleeves alongside the American Red Cross on Sunday, July 19, tackling the cleanup from Jones Beach all the way down to Tachonga Beach in the wake of Super Typhoon Bavi. Among them were Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and other local government officials, standing shoulder to shoulder with residents and volunteers, a reminder that recovery works best when everyone shows up together.

From clearing debris to hauling it out, community members proved that recovery is always a team effort. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy, at every level, to help restore this beloved stretch of coastline.

Recovery isn't finished until every corner of Tinian feels like home again. This is what community resilience looks like, and there's more work ahead. Follow along as we continue supporting CNMI and Guam's recovery after Typhoon Bavi.

Melody Actouka first registered as a Red Cross volunteer in 2004 when she was living and working in Saipan as an educator. Over the years as a volunteer, she has responded to many typhoons and tropical storms in these islands. When Melody heard about Typhoon Bavi from her current home on the Big Island in Hawai‘i, she sprang into action and agreed to go back to the islands as quickly as possible.

On Sunday, the Red Cross and community partners, including Rota police, fire and the mayor’s office, delivered recovery support and essential supplies to over 400 households on Rota.

Working together, these teams helped ensure families received critical items and assistance as recovery efforts continue. Thank you to the dedicated volunteers, first responders and local leaders who are coming together to support the community on Rota recovering from Typhoon Bavi.
