Think Before You Buy a Squishy Toy
Recent inspections have identified a number of squishy toys being sold without important details, making it hard for consumers to identify whether a toy complies with safety requirements and whether responsible operators can be contacted if a safety issue arises.
Before buying a squishy toy, always check that the product includes:
• A CE marking
• Manufacturer or importer contact details
• Appropriate warnings and age recommendations
• Information that allows the product to be traced
A toy that looks harmless may still fail to meet basic safety requirements.
Stay informed. Shop safely. Protect young children from unnecessary risks.

Consumer Warning: Rainbow Mystery Squishy Dumpling
MCCAA inspections have identified the Rainbow Mystery Squishy Dumpling toy as matching a product subject to an EU Safety Gate alert issued by Spain.
The toy may present a choking hazard because small parts can detach during use and be swallowed by young children.
Parents and caregivers who have purchased this product are advised to:
• Stop using the toy immediately
• Keep it away from young children
• Do not allow children to play with it unsupervised
Before purchasing toys, always check that they carry the required safety information and comply with EU safety requirements.

The European Consumer Centre Malta (ECC-Malta) and the Consumer Claims Tribunal will be closed on 3, 4 and 7 September 2026 to facilitate relocation to new premises.

The ECC will be relocated at the MCCAA premises, National Road, Blata l-Bajda and the Consumer Claims Tribunal will be relocated at the Valletta Local Council.

Services will resume from the new locations on 9 September 2026.
