Help Shape Future European Cybersecurity Standards

As Malta’s prospective Market Surveillance Authority and Notifying Authority under the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the MDIA encourages stakeholders to engage in ongoing European standardisation activities supporting the CRA.

ETSI has published 17 draft standards covering a range of important product categories under the CRA, including web browsers, password managers, antivirus software, virtual private networks (VPNs), SIEM systems, operating systems, routers and switches, smart-home products, internet-connected toys, wearables, firewalls and more.

The Public Enquiry phase provides an opportunity for organisations, researchers and cybersecurity experts to review the drafts, contribute feedback, and help shape future European standards.

Interested in getting involved?

To have your feedback formally considered, comments should be submitted through your national standardisation body or via ETSI membership; in Malta, this would be through the MCCAA

Funding opportunities may also be available to support participation in CRA-related standardisation activities.

🚀 Maltese AI companies: Make Transparency your Competitive Advantage

With the EU AI Act’s transparency obligations now in force, the MDIA encourages organisations developing or deploying AI-generated content to join the EU Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content. The Code is recognised by the European Commission as a tool for demonstrating compliance with Article 50 of the AI Act and provides a simplified way to comply with the requirements such as for the watermarking of AI-generated or manipulated content, and for the labelling of AI deep fake content.

By signing, organisations signal their commitment to trustworthy AI, transparency, and responsible innovation.

📢 We invite Malta’s AI community to lead by example and add its voice to this European commitment.

For further support, EU guidelines on the transparency obligations have also been published.

Find out more and sign the Code: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/how-sign-code-practice-transparency-ai-generated-content

Guidelines on Transparency of AI Generated Content: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/guidelines-ai-transparency-obligations

Stakeholders who require any further assistance or information on the initiative may wish to contact the MDIA through its AI Service Desk at [email protected]
