The Planning Authority has donated €1,000 to the Visual Non-Visual Network, while also purchasing fresh produce from the organisation, including tomatoes, olive oil and herbs, which was then presented to Dar tal-Providenza.

Through this initiative, the Authority is supporting VNVN’s work in promoting inclusion and accessibility for persons who are blind or have low vision, while also contributing to the daily mission of Dar tal-Providenza.

The Planning Authority will also be consulting with VNVN on its Safe Pedestrian Project, aimed at helping ensure pavements are safer and more accessible for all.

The Court of Appeal has confirmed the Planning Authority’s refusal of an application to sanction a gate obstructing a long-used rural pathway leading to Blata tal-Melħ in Baħrija.

The judgement reaffirms that traditional rural pathways historically used by the public are protected under planning policy, even when the land itself is privately owned.

It also confirms that the existence of alternative routes does not justify blocking a protected rural pathway.

The Planning Authority remains committed to protecting Malta’s rural and coastal heritage, while balancing private property rights with the wider public interest.
