MARSASKALA MARINA – LET'S GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT
Following the article published on a news portal regarding the possibility of a superyacht marina in Marsaskala, I would like to remind residents of some important facts.
In 2022, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced that the proposed marina project in Marsaskala had been abandoned.
In 2023, the Prime Minister also announced that the local plan would be amended to prevent the development of a marina in our bay.
In 2024, the Planning Authority initiated the formal process to remove Policy SMMS 04, which had provided for the possibility of developing a marina in Marsaskala.
We now also have a clear denial from Minister Owen Bonnici regarding the statements attributed to him in the article currently being circulated.
Minister Bonnici was not even asked about superyachts in Marsaskala, let alone gave the answer being attributed to him!
And had he actually made such a statement, don't you think it would have made headlines in every newspaper?
I will leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions.
These are documented facts, not merely opinions.
Therefore, before spreading unnecessary alarm among residents, it is important that we verify the facts.
The marina project remains abandoned, and the protection of our bay remains in place.
Marsaskala belongs to all of us, and its residents deserve to be informed by facts, not speculation.
