The Department played an active part in two events organized by Equity Office UM.

Professor Angela Abela and Dr Claire Casha delivered interventions on 'Evolving Masculinities and the Impact on Mental Wellbeing in Contemporary Malta' and 'Mental Health and Family Court Proceedings respectively as part of the event 𝙍𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙡 𝙛𝙪𝙦 𝙡-𝙄𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙡 - 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙤𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙨: 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜.

Professor Clarissa Sammut Scerri discussed the effects of intimate partner violence on children during a panel discussion on 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙑𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 as part of the '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence'.

Head of Department Dr Claire Casha was an invited speaker at Ronald McDonald House Charities Malta's conference on family-centred mental health entitled 'Mental Health Through a Family Lens: Bridging Models, Building Futures' held on Wednesday.

Her address focused on why family-centred care is important, and on the conditions needed to make it happen including a supportive infrastructure for staff. She highlighted the need for staff training on diversity and inclusion and on challenges involving social media and GenAI.
