​The primary objective of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is to ensure the sustainability of fish species in the seas and to address the requirements in the fisheries sector, by establishing required rules which:

- Regulate the activities concerning fisheries and aquaculture

- Monitor and control these assets

- Help the parties involved to educate themselves with these regulations t

hus strengthening the sector, for the benefit of their dependents

- Promote the development of the aquaculture sector to supply products to the local and foreign market while reducing the pressure on wild fish

- Facilitate and ensure that consumers have access to fresh and healthy fish

- Gather, analyze and keep biological and economic information to serve as an objective basis for decisions underpinning the sustainability of fish in our waters

⏳After this date, no more credit transfers will be granted, and any remaining credit in the old transponder keys will be lost.

📢 Il-Gvern qed iniedi t-Tielet Sejħa għall-Applikazzjonijiet taħt l-iskema EMFAF – Investments on Board Fishing Vessels, sabiex ikompli jappoġġja lis-sajjieda Maltin u Għawdxin fl-investiment u l-modernizzazzjoni tal-bastimenti tagħhom.

💶 Din l-iskema, iffinanzjata mill-Fond Ewropew għall-Affarijiet Marittimi, is-Sajd u l-Akwakultura (EMFAF), tappoġġja investimenti li jgħinu sabiex:

✅ Tittejjeb is-sigurtà abbord
✅ Jiżdiedu l-effiċjenza enerġetika u l-prestazzjoni tal-bastiment
✅ Jissaħħu l-kundizzjonijiet tax-xogħol tas-sajjieda
✅ Jiġi introdott tagħmir u teknoloġija aktar moderna u sostenibbli

🎣 Is-sejħa hija miftuħa għal sajjieda li għandhom liċenzja MFA jew MFB u li jixtiequ jinvestu fil-futur tal-operat tagħhom.

📅 L-applikazzjonijiet huma miftuħa sal-30 ta’ Settembru 2026.

These modern winches will replace ageing manual units currently used in various fishing ports, providing safer, more reliable and more efficient vessel hauling operations for our fishermen.
