Three days. Three cities. One shared ambition: strengthening Malta-UK collaboration!

Over the course of the mission in , , and , the Maltese delegation led by TradeMalta engaged with business leaders, institutions, and innovation stakeholders to explore long-term opportunities for cooperation across key growth sectors.

Discussions focused on building sustained, strategic partnerships between Malta and the UK, reinforcing shared priorities in innovation, trade, investment, and sectoral development.

The mission marks an important step in deepening Malta-UK relations beyond individual business opportunities, laying the foundation for continued collaboration in the years ahead.

The programme could not have concluded on a better note, with the delegation hosted by Nigel Payne, President of the Consular Association in Wales, for an evening of networking alongside distinguished business guests, accompanied by performances from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama at the prestigious County Club.

A heartfelt thanks goes to HE Professor Stephen Montefort (High Commissioner of Malta to the UK) Reuben Mifsud (Hon. Consul) and Peter Schriewersmann (Liverpool Lead), whose support and coordination were instrumental in making the UK side of meetings and events such a success throughout the mission.

A productive day in Wrexham advancing Malta-UK collaboration and strengthening ties between the two countries.

Today’s programme focused on regional growth, investment, manufacturing, tourism, and education.

The Maltese delegation was welcomed and addressed by Nigel Williams, Cabinet Lead for Business & Tourism, Wrexham Council, as well as Andrew Harradine, Senior Economic Representative (Wrexham Council), who shared economic and investment presentations highlighting Wrexham’s growth trajectory and international potential.

A panel discussion ensued, with an animated discussions exploring mutual opportunities for enhanced cooperation between Malta and Wrexham, involving the participation of Albert Delia, International Officer for the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Michael Galea, the Chairman of the Gozo Business Chamber, Sarah Bailey, Wrexham Chamber of Commerce and Amanda Evans, Culture Ambassador for Wrexham.

The afternoon programme was held at Wrexham University and included sector-focused breakout sessions and matchmaking meetings aimed at fostering long-term partnerships across the focus sectors.

The day concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Daniel Galea, Chairman of TradeMalta, who noted that this business mission marks the beginning of a long journey ahead and expressed optimism for continued engagement and follow-up between the respective stakeholders.

The mission now continues to Cardiff.

A productive first day in Liverpool, advancing Malta-UK collaboration and strengthening ties between two outward-looking, innovation-driven economies.

Today’s programme focused on investment, innovation, and sectoral engagement across advanced manufacturing, digital and tech industries, as well as hospitality and tourism.

The day opened with welcome remarks by Peter Schriewersmann (Liverpool Lead), an introduction to Malta by Ms Tania T. Brown, CEO of TradeMalta, and a keynote address by HE Professor Stephen Montefort, High Commissioner of Malta to the UK.

In her address, Ms Brown emphasized the importance of transforming dialogue into practical, long-term collaboration. She highlighted the strong parallels between Malta and Liverpool as entrepreneurial economies connected through trade, innovation, and international outlook, positioning Malta not only as a destination, but as a strategic partner.

The programme also included an economic overview of the Liverpool City Region and a panel discussion titled 'The Case for Investment and Closer Collaboration between Liverpool City Region and Malta.' Panellists included, TradeMalta Chairman Mr. Daniel Galea, Mr. Winston Zahra, successful Maltese investor in the UK, Malta Enterprise Envoy Mr. Peter Meli, alongside representatives from the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Liverpool City Council.

The afternoon featured sector-focused breakout sessions, providing UK and Maltese delegations with valuable opportunities for meaningful discussions on shared strengths, common challenges, and future areas of collaboration.

The mission now continues to Wrexham, building on today’s momentum in forging more meaningful long-term partnerships.
