High Commissioner Victoria Busby OBE was delighted to attend a special celebration at St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Valletta, on the 16th of August, marking the rededication of the Café in the Crypt as it begins an exciting new chapter.

The event brought together heritage, faith and community, while also commemorating the Santa Marija Convoy of 1942 through a service that incorporated the wartime altar and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Guests also celebrated the Cathedral’s receipt of the Eco Church Bronze Award, recognising its commitment to sustainability and care for creation.

As one of Valletta’s most iconic landmarks and an enduring symbol of the historic ties between the UK and Malta, St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral continues to honour its rich past while looking confidently towards the future. Congratulations to all those involved in this meaningful occasion.

During their first official visit to the island, High Commissioner Victoria Busby OBE and Deputy High Commissioner Alex Partridge enjoyed a taste of authentic Gozitan ftira, learning more about the local food culture and the traditions that make Gozo so special.

The British High Commission Valletta, as part of the Media Freedom Coalition Embassy Network, takes note of the not-guilty verdict of the individual accused of commissioning the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in Malta. Our thoughts remain with her family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives continue to be affected by her killing.

We call for the full and timely implementation of the recommendations of the Public Inquiry into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia and continue to urge the Maltese authorities to ensure all those responsible for Daphne's murder are brought to justice.

High Commissioner Victoria Busby OBE and Deputy High Commissioner Alex Partridge were delighted to visit the Queen Mary University of London Malta Campus in Rabat, Gozo, to learn more about its work and tour its impressive facilities.

During the visit, they met members of staff and gained an insight into how the campus is providing world-class medical education in Malta. Located in Gozo and closely linked with the Gozo General Hospital, the campus brings together students from across the world, strengthening educational ties between the UK and Malta while helping to develop the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The visit highlighted the important role that academic collaboration plays in the UK-Malta relationship, fostering innovation, excellence and international partnerships that benefit both our countries.

During their visit to Gozo, High Commissioner Victoria Busby OBE and Deputy High Commissioner Alex Partridge were also delighted to visit OLSC Gozo in Xewkija, a hub for the club’s passionate community of supporters.

The visit provided an opportunity to hear more about the club’s activities, its strong links with both Gozo and the UK, and the important role it plays in bringing people together. The High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner were especially honoured to receive commemorative gifts from Club President Charlie Farrugia, a thoughtful gesture that reflected the warmth and hospitality shown throughout their visit.
