From now on, Kordin III will open every second Sunday of the month, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, with the first opening taking place this Sunday, 12th July. Discover this hidden prehistoric gem in Paola and explore its links to the Tarxien Prehistoric Complex, the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, and the Santa Luċija Hypogeum 🏛️

Please be advised that the outer section of the walkway at the Ħal Tarxien Prehistoric Complex will be temporarily closed throughout the weekend as maintenance works will be taking place. The rest of the site will remain open to visitors as per usual.

Look up‼️👷

If you visited the Ħal Tarxien Prehistoric Complex last week you may have noticed workers atop the site's protective shelter.

Their maintenance work remains essential to ensure that the shelter remains strong enough to protect the site from the harsh natural elements.

🇬🇧 'Ancient minds and modern moves’ at the Ħal Tarxien Prehistoric Complex. Last Saturdays’s event invited players to go head to head in a chess tournament which took place within one of our open areas. Well done to the winners and thanks to all!

🇲🇹 F’Jum il-Ħaddiem, niftakru b’apprezzament f’dawk kollha li taw il-kontribut tagħhom għall-protezzjoni u l-istudju tas-siti preistoriċi Maltin. Il-ħarsien tal-patrimonju kulturali tagħna mhux xi skop bla sens; meta napprezzaw u nħarsu l-passat nistgħu nsibu l-għeruq tal-identità tagħna llum. Fi kliem David Lowenthal: “Il-ħila li niftakru u nidentifikaw mal-passat tagħna jagħti tifsira, skop u valur lill-eżistenza tagħna.”

🇬🇧 On Workers Day, we remember with appreciation all those who contributed to the protection and study of Malta’s prehistoric sites. Safeguarding our cultural
heritage is not some meaningless objective; in appreciating and safeguarding the past we may find the roots of our identity today. In the words of David Lowenthal: The “ability to recall and identify with our own past gives existence meaning, purpose and value.”

🇬🇧 Well done to our young archaeologists who spent the day exploring the 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐈𝐈 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞 whilst learning more about the important role of the archaeologist!
