Wara li din il-ġimgħa ospitajna l-AGM tad-Douzelage, dalgħodu qomna biex niċċelebraw Jum Marsaskala.

Bdejna l-ġurnata b’quddiesa ta’ radd il-ħajr, u komplejna billi ghaddejna rikonoxximenti lil persuni u għaqdiet li jagħtu kontribut siewi lill-komunità tagħna.

Eventwalment, ingħata Ġieħ il-Lokal lill-eks Kunsillier John Baptist Camilleri, li llum qieghed fil-Parlament. Din id-deċiżjoni ttieħdet wara vot sigriet mill-11-il Kunsillier.

Ir-rikonoxximenti ta’ din is-sena ngħataw lil:

After hosting the Douzelage AGM this week, this morning we came together to celebrate Marsaskala Day — a day dedicated to our community and to the people and organisations who make Marsaskala special.

We started the day with a Thanksgiving Mass, followed by a number of well-deserved recognitions to individuals and organisations who have made a valuable contribution to our community.

The Ġieħ il-Lokal (Local Honour) was eventually awarded to former Councillor John Baptist Camilleri, who has since gone on to serve in Parliament. This honour was awarded following a secret vote by the 11 Councillors.

This year’s recognitions were presented to:

• Shaun Lee Scicluna
• 18th Marsaskala Girl Guides
• John Baptist Camilleri

A heartfelt congratulations and thank you to each and every one of them for their dedication, hard work and contribution to the Marsaskala community.

Għada, 6 ta' Settembru 2026: Quddiesa fit-8:00 am u wara tberik tal-annimali fuq iz-zuntier tal-Knisja Parrokkjali ta' Sant' Anna. fl-okkażjoni ta' Jum Marsaskala. Jitqasssmu ukoll rikonoxximenti u eventwalment jingħata Gieħ il-Lokal.

Tomorrow, 6 September 2026: Mass at 8:00 am followed by the blessing of pets on the parvis outside St Anne Parish Church to mark Marsaskala Day. Appreciation recognitions will be handed out, followed by the presentation of Gieħ il-Lokal.

Marsaskala Welcomes Delegates from 27 European Municipalities
​This week, the Marsaskala Local Council has the honour of hosting 160 delegates representing 27 different municipalities from across the European Union, on the occasion of the 50th General Meeting and the 35th anniversary of the Douzelage Town Twinning Organisation.
​This annual two day meeting provides an important platform for exchanging experiences, ideas, and best practices among local government representatives from various European countries.
​Key topics under discussion include domestic violence and the vital importance of victim support, which are issues of deep relevance to our communities that demand ongoing commitment, cross border collaboration, and raised awareness.
​This initiative forms part of the project "Tackling Domestic Violence in the Local Community," funded by the European Union through Servizzi Ewropej f'Malta (SEM) under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV). Special thanks also go to Visit Malta for their valuable contribution and assistance in making this event possible.
​The Marsaskala Local Council is proud to host this international gathering and contribute to strengthening ties between European municipalities, while actively championing the core values of solidarity, respect, collaboration, and European unity.

Aġġornament għar-residenti ta’ Triq il-Blajjiet, Żonqor Heights.

Fil-preżent qed issir xogħol ta’ tħaffir f’parti minn Triq iż-Żonqor, quddiem il-pitch tal-waterpolo.

Konsegwenza ta’ dan, l-inżul minn Triq il-Blajjiet lejn il-baħar bħalissa mhux possibbli, apparti d-direzzjoni lejn l-eks pixxina.

Għal din il-ġimgħa kien hemm bżonn li ssir devjazzjoni tat-traffiku fil-parti t’isfel ta’ Triq il-Blajjiet, fejn jinsab il-Luzzu.

Fil-preżent, it-traffiku reġa’ ġie kif kien fil-passat: wieħed jitla’ b’mod normali skont it-tabelli tat-traffiku u jinżel lura mill-istess triq lejn il-Luzzu.

Nisperaw li sal-Ħadd jitlesta x-xogħol fiż-Żonqor sabiex ikun jista’ jitkompla t-tarmak fi Triq il-Blajjiet.

Mill-ġimgħa d-dieħla, ir-residenti ta’ Żonqor Heights se jkunu jistgħu jipproċedu lejn il-knisja, l-eks pixxina u Żonqor Heights.

Niskużaw ruħna għal kull inkonvenjent u nirringrazzjawkom tal-paċenzja u l-koperazzjoni tagħkom.

A brief update for the residents of Triq il-Blajjiet, Żonqor Heights.

At present, excavation works are being carried out on part of Triq iż-Żonqor, in front of the water polo pitch.

As a result, it is currently not possible to drive down from Triq il-Blajjiet towards the sea, except in the direction of the former swimming pool.

This week, it was necessary to introduce a traffic diversion in the lower part of Triq il-Blajjiet, near the Luzzu.

At present, traffic has returned to the way it was in the past: vehicles can go up normally according to the traffic signs and return down the same road towards the Luzzu.

We hope that the work in Żonqor will be completed by Sunday so that the asphalting works on Triq il-Blajjiet can continue.

From next week, residents of Żonqor Heights will be able to proceed towards the church, the former swimming pool and Żonqor Heights.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and cooperation.
