Today we celebrate our incredible canine team and the dogs who train alongside us to support search and rescue operations.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports our dogs, handlers and the work that goes into keeping our canine team ready when needed.

Yesterday, members of the Search and Rescue Unit of the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta were deployed to Bulebel to assist in the search for missing person Eusebio Abela.

Our volunteers deployed search and drone resources and worked alongside the Civil Protection Malta & The Malta Police Force in support of the ongoing operation.

We extend our deepest condolences to Mr.Abela’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

We also want to remind the public that should you ever need our assistance, our volunteers are ready and willing to support, no matter the time of day. If someone is missing and you believe our Search and Rescue capabilities can assist, please do not hesitate to contact us directly and we will ensure the right authorities are notified of the case.

📢 The MASMOM SAR Unit is opening applications for the role of Training Coordinator

The Training Coordinator plays a key role in keeping our Unit operationally ready — implementing the training programme set by Unit management, organising sessions and logistics, coordinating with external instructors and partner organisations, and tracking member certifications.

This position is open to anyone interested in joining the Unit in this capacity, not only current members. It's a voluntary role, but a meaningful way to contribute directly to how our team trains and prepares for real-world search and rescue operations.

🚨 Celebrating 5 Years of Service 🚨

This month marks the 5th anniversary of the Search and Rescue Unit of the Order of Malta.

Over the last five years, our volunteers have dedicated their time, skills, and energy to serving the community, responding when needed and supporting a wide range of operations and activities. Their commitment remains the driving force behind everything we do.💪

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Maltese Association - Order of Malta, as well as to the various government entities, emergency services, NGOs, partners, and supporters whose collaboration and trust have helped us reach this milestone.🙏🏽

This anniversary is not only a celebration of our achievements, but also of the people and organisations who have made them possible.

Yesterday we had a fantastic training session on awareness and preparedness for missing persons cases involving individuals living with dementia. 🧠

Led by Daniel, we covered how to assess and approach patients, communication strategies, key risks, and what to expect in these sensitive situations. The kind of training that truly makes a difference when it matters most. 💙
