This election, Malta needs more than the usual two-party conversation. 🇲🇹

Volt Malta will not be contesting this general election, but we will use our voice to support progressive and moderate third-party and independent voices who stand for democratic reform, transparency, equality, sustainability, social justice, and a stronger European future.

Our democracy is stronger when voters hear more ideas, more perspectives, and more credible alternatives beyond the two parties in parliament today.

🔴 URGENT: Protest Cancelled in View of Positive Developments

We have taken note of positive developments regarding the Conscience – the humanitarian ship that was attacked by drones off the Maltese coast – with the Prime Minister now offering more tangible assistance to the vessel. The Gaza Freedom Flotilla has also welcomed this approach.

❌ In light of these developments, today’s protest, “Let the Conscience In”, scheduled for 5:30pm outside Castille, is being cancelled.

We thank the many people in Malta who are showing solidarity with this humanitarian mission and with the Palestinian people, who are currently experiencing genocide.

We will continue to follow developments closely, while reiterating our demands that the Conscience be allowed to dock in Malta for repairs before continuing on its humanitarian mission, and that the Maltese Government condemn the drone attack on this humanitarian ship.

🇵🇸 We would also like to remind all those who wish to show solidarity with the Palestinian people of the march taking place on Thursday, 15th May, to commemorate the Nakba – the Catastrophe. It will be held along the Gżira waterfront, starting at 6:00pm: NAKBA 77 - March for a Free Palestine

The humanitarian vessel should be allowed entry to Malta. We support this protest and urge people to attend.

🔴 URGENT CALL TO ACTION: We are calling on the public and other organisations to gather tomorrow, Sunday 4th May, at 5:30pm in Castille Square, to demand that the Government allow entry to the humanitarian ship Conscience.

❤️‍🩹 The vessel Conscience, part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is on a mission to deliver essential humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring a dire humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing genocide perpetrated by Israel.

🆘 Yesterday, the ship was targeted in a drone attack that disabled much of its functionality, leaving it stranded just outside Maltese territorial waters. The situation onboard is critical: the vessel has no electricity, water is leaking in, and its ability to sail is severely compromised.

📣 Given the damage sustained, the only viable option is for the Maltese Government to allow the ship to dock for emergency repairs before it can continue its humanitarian mission to Gaza.

🚨 So far, the Maltese authorities have denied entry. We urgently call on the Prime Minister and the entire Government to do what is just and necessary: let the Conscience in!

The public deserves clear and honest reassurance about what occurred in Malta's airspace and what occurred on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla vessel, and we must remain vigilant in ensuring full respect for our territorial integrity. We commend all those who have worked to stabilise the situation in the vessel and prevent a tragedy

Thank you!! Despite having the highest threshold relative to population, Malta has surpassed it to join 20 EU states where the pro-choice petition was successful. As the state with the most restrictive laws, we sent an important message. We now await tangible action from the European Commission.
