🌕🎶 Chinese Elegance: A Mid-Autumn Musical Evening
On 2 September, the China Cultural Centre in Malta hosted a Mid-Autumn Festival event as special edition of the Valletta Lecture Series, offering the audience an enchanting journey into the world of traditional Chinese music.
Through beautiful melodies and stories behind Chinese musical instruments, the evening celebrated the richness of Chinese culture and strengthened the bonds of cultural exchange between China and Malta.

The China Cultural Centre in Malta is launching its 2026-2027 Chinese language courses. Starting from 6th October, 2026, we welcome beginners and advanced learners, to join us in mastering the beautiful Chinese language. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 18:00 to 19:30 at our location on 173 Melita Street, Valletta.

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, join us for Music from the Sea, a special performance by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra at Teatru Manoel.
Founded in 1952, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra is one of China’s leading traditional music ensembles. Blending the rich beauty of Chinese musical heritage with a vibrant contemporary spirit, the concert will take audiences on an inspiring journey through the sounds of China.
Since its premiere, the production has toured in various formats to 52 cities across 15 countries and regions. It has been presented at some of the world’s leading cultural venues. Widely acclaimed by audiences and the international press, it has become one of the prominent international showcases of Chinese music.

The Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites were inscribed on the World Heritage List on Saturday, during the 48th Session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in Busan, becoming China’s 61st World Heritage Site.

Comprising five component sites, they present the complete porcelain-making process and trace the development of Jingdezhen's handicraft porcelain industry from the 10th to the 19th centuries.

The sites showcase the profound influence of Chinese porcelain on technology, art and global cultural exchange. Jingdezhen's iconic blue-and-white porcelain and its distinctive motifs have become enduring symbols of Chinese craftsmanship and culture.

Between the Lines: The Civilization Code in Chinese Characters

From 23 June to 17 July, the exhibition "Between the Lines: The Civilization Code in Chinese Characters" is on view at the China Cultural Centre in Malta. The exhibition takes you on a journey across 5,000 years, exploring how Chinese characters evolved from marks carved on oracle bones into the square-shaped script used today, and how they have shaped Chinese thought and culture.
A special VR experience, "Guardian of Chinese Characters — A Journey Through Five Realms," invites you to immerse yourself in five fantastical worlds and feel the birth and legacy of Chinese characters.

A new cultural landmark has been inaugurated on the Marsaskala waterfront.

On 9 July 2026, the bronze sculpture Lu Yu · Silk Road Tea Break was officially unveiled. Honouring Lu Yu, the Sage of Tea, the permanent public artwork was generously donated by Chinese artists and entrepreneurs and presented to the people of Marsaskala by the Malta China Friendship Society.

Inspired by the spirit of the ancient Silk Road, the sculpture stands as a lasting symbol of friendship, mutual respect, and cultural dialogue between Malta and China. It reflects the shared commitment of both countries to fostering people-to-people connections and promoting intercultural understanding through art and cultural exchange.

May this landmark continue to strengthen the enduring friendship between Malta and China for generations to come.
