The Authority congratulates all entities involved in bringing this initiative to fruition and will continue striving towards further measures that strengthen Gozo’s sustainable development.

L-Awtorità Reġjonali għall-Iżvilupp ta’ Għawdex (GRDA) tilqa’ b'sodisfazzjon l-introduzzjoni ta’ konnessjonijiet marittimi veloċi diretti ġodda li jgħaqqdu lil Għawdex ma’ Buġibba u Tas-Sliema, li jikkumplimentaw is-servizz eżistenti lejn il-Belt Valletta. Dan l-iżvilupp importanti jimmarka pass sinjifikanti ’l quddiem fit-titjib tal-aċċessibbiltà u l-konnettività bejn Għawdex u Malta.

Konnessjonijiet marittimi mtejjba ilhom identifikati bħala prijorità ewlenija fl-Istrateġija Reġjonali għal Għawdex, li tiddeskrivi viżjoni għal gżira aktar konnessa, reżiljenti u ekonomikament vibranti. Iż-żieda ta’ rotot ġodda lejn Buġibba u Tas-Sliema ssaħħaħ in-network tat-trasport, u toffri aktar flessibbiltà, anqas ħinijiet ta’ vvjaġġar u għażliet aktar konvenjenti għar-residenti, il-ħaddiema u l-viżitaturi bl-istess mod.

Il-GRDA tinnota li punti ta’ dħul u tluq diversifikati huma essenzjali biex jappoġġjaw it-tkabbir ekonomiku ta’ Għawdex, partikolarment f’setturi bħat-turiżmu, il-kummerċ u s-servizzi. Billi jespandu l-konnettività lil hinn mill-Belt Valletta, dawn ir-rotot ġodda huma mistennija li jqassmu aħjar il-flussi tal-passiġġieri, inaqqsu l-konġestjoni u jinkoraġġixxu żvilupp reġjonali aktar bilanċjat.

Barra minn hekk, titjib fl-aċċessibbiltà hija kruċjali biex tittejjeb il-kwalità tal-ħajja għar-residenti Għawdxin, tiffaċilita l-ivvjaġġar aktar faċli, aċċess għal servizzi essenzjali, u rabtiet soċjali u ekonomiċi aktar b'saħħithom bejn il-gżejjer.

L-Awtorità ttenni li l-investiment sostnut f'soluzzjonijiet ta' trasport multimodali jibqa' ċentrali biex jintlaħqu l-objettivi fit-tul tal-Istrateġija Reġjonali ta' Għawdex. L-introduzzjoni ta' dawn ir-rotot ġodda tal-katamaran veloċi hija eżempju pożittiv u tanġibbli ta' politika li tittraduċi f'azzjoni.

Il-GRDA tħares 'il quddiem lejn kollaborazzjoni kontinwa mal-partijiet interessati biex tkompli tissaħħaħ aktar il-konnettività u tiżgura li Għawdex ikompli jiżviluppa bħala reġjun dinamiku u attraenti kemm għar-residenti, u kif ukoll għall-viżitaturi.

Following the initiative launched by Prime Minister Robert Abela, the GRDA extends its sincere congratulations to the Metal Works Department within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning for their expert craftsmanship in constructing 150 Sheffield U-type bicycle stands in record time, less than two weeks!

📍 Coming Soon to a Village Near You
In collaboration with Local Councils and Rota.mt, these stands will be installed across the island to ensure cyclists have access to secure, reliable, and convenient parking.

🌟 Why This Matters:

🔵Security: The Sheffield U-type design is the industry standard for keeping your bike safe.
🔵Sustainability: Encouraging cycling helps reduce our carbon footprint and promotes greener transport.
🔵Accessibility: Improved infrastructure supports a more connected, cyclist-friendly island for both residents and visitors.

Together, we are building a more breathable, accessible, and eco-conscious Gozo. Keep an eye out for these new installations appearing across the island! 🛠️🌍
