The coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took place on June 6, 1674, at the Raigad Fort in Maharashtra. This historic event established the sovereign Maratha Empire (Hindavi Swarajya) and gave Shivaji the official title of "Chhatrapati".

The Chairperson and Board Members of the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust, together with artists who performed for Krshna Leela 2025 had the honour and privilege to be welcomed at the State House on 16 December 2025 upon request of His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool GCSK, and Mrs Gokhool. We had the opportunity to meet H.E. The President of the Republic of Mauritius and had fruitful and encouraging conversations.
His Excellency and Mrs Gokhool also assisted our first show of Krishna Leela held on 16 August 2025.
A guided garden tour was followed.
