Cough is a common symptoms across all the age group but the causes can be different.
1.infectious with regards to the lungs , bronchus,throat
2.Cardiac/heart failure
3. Acid reflux
4.Asthma
5.medications namely enalapril etc
6.Allergy
7.cancer/tumor-persistent cough with weight loss,may have blood in sputum(phlegm).
8.smoking
9.Bronchiectasis
10.other causes
A simple cold and cough can resolve within a week but if it persists, you need to see a medical professional to find out the cause.
