ARTWORK ACQUISITION PROGRAMME 2023

The National Art Gallery is proposing to purchase paintings, photography, prints and sculptures of Mauritian Artists with a view to further enrich its National Collection.

The Application Form, including Conditions for acquisition, is available on the website of the National Art Gallery: www.nationalartgallery.govmu.org

The Application Form can be collected (hard-copy) as from Wednesday 07 June 2023 at the reception of the National Art Gallery on weekdays from 09 00 hours to 12 00 hours and 12 30 hours to 16 00 hours.

The deadline for the submission of application forms is Monday 10 July 2023 by 16 00 hours at latest.

This inaugural edition showcases the talents of 84 Mauritian visual artists alongside 10 regional artists from Republic of Seychelles, Union of Comoros and Rodrigues. By bringing together artists with a wide range of styles and mediums, the Mauritius Arts Expo serves as a dynamic platform that encapsulates the intricacies and diversity of visual culture in the Indian Ocean region.

From paintings to sculptures, printmaking to photography, art installation to video art, the exhibition offers a wide spectrum of themes and techniques that one can experience in a unique way. Each artwork on display contributes its unique essence, collectively painting a dynamic and engaging portrait of contemporary art.

For this edition, the emblematic Citadelle also hosts a digital art exhibition centred around the concept of spectrum. An array of new media projects that challenge and playfully interact with technologies prevalent in an ultra-connected era.

The proposals may comprise video art, interactive media, video mapping, digital art installation or any innovative media art project.
