𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝗴𝗴-𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗮 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸!

Our Aldabra giant tortoises have started laying their eggs. They can lay between 8 to 25 eggs once or twice a year, and some older females may even lay three times a year.
Each egg is about the size of a golf ball. Our team carefully collects and incubates them to keep them safe from predators like rats.

After 3 to 4 months, tiny hatchlings weighing around 30g will begin their journey.
A special season has started at the park!

Fresh water is always available for our girl, but today she decided to show off her hidden talent. Smart, cheeky, and impossible not to love ❤️

At La Vanille Nature Park, Aldabra giant tortoises are part of our story and our conservation work.

From the little ones in our nursery to the impressive adults in the savannah, each tortoise reminds us why protecting wildlife matters. Visitors can observe them, feed them, interact with them, and learn more about these gentle giants in a meaningful way.

Our commitment to conservation also continues beyond La Vanille, through the François Leguat Reserve Rodrigues and our NGO, Biodiversity Conservation Madagascar

Together, these projects help protect species, restore habitats, and keep conservation alive for future generations. 🐢
